Cool Pleased about superchips

bought one a while back and have been running the tow tune for a while which is a lot of fun but the other day i decided id run the mileage tune for a 7 hour drive i had ahead of me. So before setting off ran the tune quickly and set off. I got about 20 average which is crazy because im used to more like 16 highway with our trucks. im just pleased and wonder what else this thing can do.

I've always wondered how you guys are achieving such good gas mileage. I'm averaging maybe 13 MPG.

20 mpg with the mileage tune? I heard it was crap from the other guy's who tried it. Interesting!

If you keep your foot out of it, the mileage tune can be great. The problem is the mileage tune feels gutless compared to the 91 octane performance tune, so you press the gas harder to get more oomph, which negates the extra mileage.

Using the 91 octane performance tune, no wind, and driving less than 65 on Nebraska highways, I got the highest mileage I have ever achieved with the truck: 22.7 MPG. I often wonder what the mileage tune would have done...

Thats the key, if you can use the mileage tune on a trip and just cruise along, it will give much better mileage, but like Jason says, around town, etc, mileage tune is , well, gutless. I tried them all. I had the 87 tune with a custom shift schedule for a long time. I tried the tow tune and never looked back.

Well I do a lot of highway driving commuting to school 5 days a week so I may have to try it..maybe I will run it Wednesday and see what happens. I would definitely miss the torque of my beloved tow tune though.

putting it on cruise control on 65-75 i averaged a solid 19. that is what with a couple hills though. on flat land it could easily keep 20. i havent tried the 91 yet, just kept the tow tune on and run it with 87.

I switched from the 91 tune to the tow tune a couple months ago. In the midwest here, the 91 octane tunes tend to ping a bit with 91 octane fuel.

With the tow tune, I rarely ping at all on 91, and have more down low grunt for around town. Haven't wanted to try any lower octanes though, and definitely no ethanol. No pinging allowed on this baby (on my 2001 Ram before, didn't care as much).

I've had a SC 3865 on my '01 RT for 3-4 years now and don't ever intend on removing it. I get 16.5 city/18.5 hwy using the performance tune which I think is damn respectable but my first love is the tire smoking power it has. Getting the best of both worlds...PRICELESS!!!

I am getting this mileage with the Tow Tune. I think the Mileage Tune is worthless. Overall average, beings I dont get much highway is 16 mpg. I have been tracking it with the aCar (Pro Version) app for well over a year now. My best was 21.049 and my worse was 12.004 (lots of idling and a trailer behind) I recommend this app though, it helps keep track of everything for multiple vehicles
