Default I need help

I have a 2005 Dakota 4x4, 4.7, with 110,000 miles. I bought it in 2007 with 28,000 miles.

The problems started a while back, with no (apparent) reason: The 4 lo light would intermittently flash and at other times the truck would rapidly lurch/jerk. These two events don't happen simultaneously, but if it does one, the other will shortly follow. These things only seem to happen at highway speeds. Sometimes after turning the truck off, and key out, I will hear what I can only describe as something electronic "cycling" near the engine compartment. Naturally, I can never predict or replicate this sound, so it's hard to pin down. I apologize for not being real technical with my terms, I'm not mechanically inclined.

I took it to a dealership, paid the $90 diagnostic, and they are clueless. They also said my trans was leaking and charged me for a trans fluid flush. I'm guessing that was just a rip-off technique. Any diagnosis or advice to resolve the issue will be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about the electrical "cycling" after you shut it off. It doesn't necessarily mean anything. These newer vehicles have several accessories that don't shut off until minutes or several minutes after the key is out of the ignition.

Was the $tealership able to replicate the issue, or did they just hook it up to their computer and shrug when no codes came up? They may need to test drive it repeatedly throughout the day, or at the very least go on a ride along with you in an attempt to get it to act up.

Almost sounds like the shift solenoid or something relating to that system. Check out this thread: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...-engaging.html It has some good advice on what you are describing.
