Need ideas what to do with tow hook bolts/nuts?
So like so many others, I am having major issues mounting my bull bar. I am about to cut off the stupid disc looking nut thing on top and reinstall the bolt. The nut is just fused to the disc and it just spins when I try to turn the bolt from the bottom.
I need ideas. The local Dodge dealer does NOT have the original disc/nut in stock.
How else can I reinstall it after I cut it off from the top?
Thanks.

You're right, the nut is "fused" to the disk - it's made that way. The bolt is seized in the nut & that's the problem. You need that disk because it's part of the body mount assembly, but you can cut the bolt head off at the bottom and pull the bolt shaft & the nut/disk out the top, then do the following:
- Put the bolt shaft into a vise & remove the nut/disk piece - I used some penetrating oil on it over a couple of days and then I removed the nut with a pipe wrench.
- Drill out the threads of the disk/nut using a 1/2" bit. The bolt is 12 mm, so the 1/2" will just remove most of the threads.
- Measure how long the replacement bolts need to be, and go get 2 new ones. Get 1/2" grade 8 (grade 5 minimum), and also, get 2 thick fender washers per bolt (one at the top & one at the bottom) and get a lock nut for each bolt.
- Measure each bolt to protrude about 1" above the nut/disk unit. This leaves room for the fender washers and the lock nuts. If you can't get lock nuts, get 2 nuts per bolt & use the second nut as a jamb nut.

Awesome directions. Thank you.
tried your way, went and bought the same exact clamp, no luck. its so fused that i kept tightening it and it still spun. eventually the clamp broke.
I shot a self tapping screw through the side of the upper bushing so when it turned, it would eventually wedge itself up against something and stop it from turning/
