Default Leaf Springs

I, for the life of me, can not remember where I saw it on this site, but I know I did. I saw a thread about what your Dakota can and can't handle in the towing area. One guy had a mid 90's Dakota and if I'm not mistaking took leaf springs off a 1500 and beefed up his rear end a bit. My question is could I take the leaf springs off a 1500 or even a 2500 and beef up my rear end (05 quad cab, 4.7, 2wd). TL ; DR -Can I take leaf springs off 1500/2500 for 05 Dakota?

I put Ramcharger springs on the back of my '97. The front spring hangers worked fine in the stock location, but I had to buy new rear ones. I used Dorman hangers designed for a Ford Ranger that I got for $18 each at Rock Auto. I could have reused the stock ones, but I was also doing a shackle flip.

Obviously, your truck is different from mine, but I'm sure the process would be similar.

Backwoods has leaf packs from a 1500. A leaf pack from a 2500 would loosen every fastener in the Dakota.

In his signature it says 3/4 Ton leafs, not 1/2 Ton. At first I thought maybe it was just the post i miss read and got 2500 out of it not 1500 untill I just seen his Sig.

So my understanding is that 1500 leafs will fit on my dodge with no modifications needed? Also, does it matter what year they come off of?

Do you have the springs? Measure them. Measure both ends because they probably aren't symmetrical.

My guess is that they are NOT a direct bolt-in, but an easy weekend project.

+1. Probably not a direct bolt on, but probably not hard to adapt them in. The V8 Dakotas have the same rear axle as the 1500s, so in theory it shouldn't be too difficult.

I do not have them, but just researching things as to what I would love to do to my truck. Thanks, everyone.

not sure how much more you want to tow, but we do have AAL's specific to our truck. Im getting some soon, and one i know for sure are pro comp explorer series which add like maybe 1.5" at most if your not wanting too much of a rake. also ebay has some AAL's for us too if you want to go that way.
