Key Fob Remote Broke...So I fixed it.
#11
Was just doing a little looking and found those autoloc power tonneau kits where you just install and wire their powered struts. A little pricey, but sure would be nice not having to fool with keys all the time. Only downfall I'm seeing is having an extra remote to lug around.
Yeah, I've seen a bunch of Youtube videos of guys with linear actuators for struts to raise and lower their lids. Pricey to do it, even if you do all the labor yourself (unless you come across a great deal on the actuators themselves). Thought about it a lot, like if there was a way to fab something up that would only need one heavy duty actuator and link up some kind of hinged frame with cables (Think about those Sunsetter auto retractable awnings you can get for your back porch, if you can't think it youtube it) Anyway, the only one that really caught my eye was a set up where the guy had for actuators with universal joints where they linked to the lid, had a multi-controller...that way he could articulate his tonneau anyway he wanted, but he had a couple memory pre-sets so it would automatically open one of 4 ways: 1. like a regular tonneau would open, 2. Lift up on the left only, to access from the drivers side, 3. lift up on the right, to access from the passenger side, 4. all 4 at the same time and just lift straight up! I thought that was pretty coool, he had to cut into his bed sides (cuz he had his lifters mounted inside his bed rails.
