Default 2005 dakota slow forward movement, hard reverse shift

[CODE[/CODE]I have tried to search and this cell phone will not let me. So I decided to post after two hours of searching with no results.

Occasionally after I stop driving, doesn't matter how long I go and start it up and continue to back out the shift from park to reverse is hard and if I put it back into drive or other gear there is very little forward speed. speedLike its in the wrong gear. I disconnect the battery terminals and try to shift its a smooth shift and the forward speed is back to what should be normal.

Also when driving and I keep the accelerator at one position and push a little more there is nothing unless I either let off then back on it or I floor it to activate overdrive.

Fluid level is normal.
Any tips, advice or help in troubleshooting would be very appreciative.

find a long empty road where you can open it up, come to a complete stop and drop it into low 1 and mash the gas and go thru the gears, could very well be a programing issue or a bad filter

How does putting it in low 1 go through the gears? Besides I can't do the long empty road I'm not getting a speeding ticket.

He said put it in low and then manually go through the gears.

and if it's an empty road how can you get a speeding ticket?

Im just super busy at work and dont have the option of internet at home. Ok I understand better now. Thank you. It seems fine all shifts are smooth. And the speed pick up seems good.

However a new symptom has developed. I tried to start it up and nothing happened. All indicators were on but no start.I turned it on and off a few times and it started up.

Check your battery contacts. They might be loose or corroded. Clean em up and tighten them back down, should be good.

Ok it was running good then I stopped and turned it off. Unpon restarting the shift to reverse hit hard. So I put it back in drive and it struggled to move forward. Had a guy disconnect the battery terminal for ainute or so and tried reverse again and I went smoothly into gear and I was able to drive.

The battery contacts look good. Free of corrosion and are not loose.

How old is the battery? These trucks do some weird things when the batteries get weak.

Also check the battery size. My grand father owned my truck before me. When he sold it to me, he replaced the battery. The guys at autozone recommended the wrong size battery, and he bought it. I had to replace it, and when I went to Advanced Auto Parts, the guy there tried to sell me the same under sized battery.
