Default Amsoil!!!!!

Well, I finally got the number to the guy who sells Amsoil in my area. And since I'm due for a change now anyway, if he has everything, I'll be switching to Amsoil Signature Series tomorrow. I'll have to report back after I've driven a while so I can tell everyone if my mpg increased by 10% or not.

Were you on synthetic already before switching to Amsoil, or regular oil?

I am willing to bet that you won't notice any difference other than perhaps the placebo effect. Not knocking Amsoil necessarily, just stating that they won't make any difference in gas mileage/power. The only difference between synthetic oils (maybe) is the wear and tear, or lack thereof, on your vehicle over time.

Let us know how it goes.

I totally agree with jason. Especially when going from one high end synthetic to another. In my opinion Mobile 1 is second to Amsoil. The only thing we spend extra money on the Amsoil is in the race car, that's just because of the high stress of 11 second quarters.

I like the idea of only having to change my oil once a year. That's what really sold me. Otherwise, I have to change my oil 3 times a year.

I wouldn't trust the 25,000/12 months thing. I trust my Mobile 1 Full Synthetic up to 6,000 miles. But to each his own.

I would be never go over 6000 miles/6 months no matter what oil I was using. I would also never buy a used vehicle if I knew the oil was only changed once a year.

If an analysis indicates the oil is still performing after certain number of miles, why does it still need changed? The oils of today and today's engines are much better than the good ole days. If the old standard had been 6,000 miles instead of 3,000, we would be having the same argument except the numbers would be higher.
