Slight overheating after new A/C compressor
Alright guys, I replaced my A/C compressor today. Afterward I was driving around town and noticed the temp needle slightly above the middle mark on the gauge. I've been without A/C for about a year now, and was wondering if this is normal, or if I should do a coolant flush. Just as reference heat index today was 109 and I was doing city driving. If I do need to flush, what would y'all recommend for my mix ratio, I'm pretty close to sea level here so altitude is little concern.
Thanks.
Thanks.
At 109f, I would expect the gauge to climb a bit. Especially in stop and go city driving with the AC on.
Slightly above the mid point is fine.
However should you decide to flush the cooling system anyway (I wouldn't at this point as you aren't having an overheating problem,) The usual mix of antifreeze and water is 50/50.

Although, me personally, my OCD would trigger and I'd start doing tons of custom crap to bring temps down, I agree with LaCatus. It's normal, the clutch fan is becoming more engaged as it gets hotter, unless it's broken it will always handle it. Looks high, but it's really not bad.
My concern at those temps is that the trans temps may be getting hotter than you want them. Do you have an aux trans cooler?

Id agree with LoCactus. At that heat index I cant imagine it being much cooler with stock cooling and such.

This is earlier this evening after about a 10 mile trip at highway speeds. It was about 99 outside at the the time. I'm starting to think about replacing my clutch fan with a E-fan, and also about looking into a new water pump. That needle is way too far up there.
That is pretty high. I would say the clutch might actually be malfunctioning...
But, I'm going to be putting together a how-to on my Taurus fan setup soon, once I get the temp switch aspect figured out. Almost there. I will have an updated video, pics, part numbers, and schematic with detailed infos in a couple days.

I'm looking into the HHR fan, with a SPAL controller. I've been keeping up with your Hemi swap so I'll keep checking back, but I'll probably go with the HHR fan seeing as it's a pretty simple switch over. I'm for sure going to look into aftermarket waterpumps, and switching over to a 180 t-stat. Anything to help it run cooler.
