My 05' Dakota nightmare!!
I have a 2005 Dakota. I bought it new with 9 mils on it. Right away I noticed Vibration and contacted the dealer. They found the goodyears to be out of shape.Well tires were replaced and vibration persisted. I then started to notice bouncing when braking on the highway shortly after I was in an accident where I rearended someone cause I could not stop correctly.
Brought truck back to dealer they tell me that there is a TSB for the brake vibration problem, 1st time hearing of this well they fixed it but now it does not stop correctly. (not happy) I told them the truck vibrates badly when I hit around 50-60 mph. They tested and said they found no problem.
On the way home I exp'd the vibrating problem again. I called them and told them it was still there they told me there was nothing there to begin with. I am bringing it to another Dodge Dealer I have a lemon law attorney looking into it and my insurance company is trying to sebrogate on the accident from the brakes. I have a new baby and 3 other kids I will not put them in this truck. I want a new one and I am going to fight for it. 06 R/T H.O will be a good fix to the problem. I will keep you updated. Good luck to all having the same problem.

I don't blame you for being pissed off. That's a bunch of BS. That dealership should be looked into. If I were you, I would have taken them for a ride and showed them what I meant.
I'm sorry that you're having this problem though. The Dakotas are such a good truck, but for some reason, they're having the probs that they're having. It's disgusting to me that a dealership doesn't have the need to want to bring you back for future business.
When I bought a 92 Grand prix used from a dealership in Spokane, I was having problems with the car stalling and the occasional sputtering. I talked to the dealership and they told me that I needed to have my injectors replaced. When I took it into them they said that it just need to have the injectors cleaned. Saved me about $800. Didn't fix the problem. When I moved to Vancouver, I was still dealing with the problem so I took it to the local dealership here and they found the problems. One was the idle arm was broken and I don't remember the second, but it didn't have anything to do with the injectors.
You're smart to have another dealership take a look at it. It could be in the wheels. Some of the people that have had this issue has had the wheels replaced and never had the problem again.
Good luck.

OK, so you'll see I had multiple postss regarding this shuddering crap and never really got it resolved, until recently...
After reading all of the potential causes / solutions, I can attest to the fact that it really can be a combination of things.
1. Didn't experience the shuddering when I first owned the vehicle.
2. After a couple of years, started having problems primarily braking at high speeds (50MPH +) down hill.
3. Resurfaced the rotors when brakes were replaced and the shuddering was almost non-existent.
4. Rotated tires, checked remaining brake life, and was advised to replace rotors, which I did and the shuddering went away.
5. Shuddering returned, but not nearly as bad as when originally experienced.
6. Recently replaced all 4 tires (old ones had 55K miles on them and 2 were really bad). No shuddering to date.
Fingers crossed.
