ATTN crankshaft positon sensor(p0335) - 07, 4x4 ,4.7- dakota REPLACEMENT
hi, been a while since i posted- this is a good thing.
recently dakotas been shutting down after driving 5-10 min post cold starts.
intermittent stalling, if im still moving it will power down , rpm -0- but if i give it gas it will kick back in and keep running on its own.
if im coming to a stop or idle, it kicks out an steering wheel locks up and breaks go and is shut down completely until i turn key over again and starts up.
does not make any chugging noise or weird noises. just gigs out.
fires back up first shot every time, then will die 2 or 3 more times till she goes again, then once more it will kick out drop RPM to zero an die.
once it heats up it seems to go fine..
either way, happend worse then most times yesterday after parking it hot and sitting for 3-4 hours in cold and wet. colder temp then usual.
died 3-4 times going down the road, fired up , kept dying .
ended up gettin it heated up an stayed running...
bad enough that time though to THROW A CODE P03335 (lucky for me)
brought it home and reset PCM , disconeect negative and held key to start for 20 sec
did some googling,
crank shaft position sensor.
possibly damaged from manifold leak or oil spillage on it i read are usuall culprits i read
anyway,
picked one up from NAPA , 56 bucks.
mostly on google its all camshaft articles / links
found a location of the ckps for a durango . . not sure if same spot....
either way
any tips ,advice, common issues to share with me before i attempt to replace it my self
thank you all
please ask anything you may need to ask to assist me in this recovery ;0
calix
possibly help with location difficulty rating.
i read it can be difficult to get out sometimes if seized..
mainly location and anyones past experience replacing the part.
THANK YOU ALL
