Default 05 dakota 3.7 exhaust ideas

Hey, so I've been looking into doing an exhaust on my truck for a while now, and would like to see if you guys have some recommendations. I was wanting to do a single exit behind the rear tire where the stock is, but just swap out the muffler and delete the resonators. I'm looking for a 8 out of 10 on the sound level, and not get too ricey. I was looking into maybe a flowmaster 40 series, but I'm open to anything.

Anything helps guys.
Thanks

Steve

Flowmaster sounds like crap, IMO. I had one and ditched it for a magnaflow. Much mellower. Do some searching on here for exhaust systems. Tons of threads on the subject. Probably why no one has responded.

It's tough for us with V8s to offer suggestions, it's a way different sound between the two exhausts. But I did simply replace the muffler with a MagnFlow and ditch the resonators. You can as long as the other sections of exhaust piping is in good shape.

Dont get the MBRP for the 3.7L youll regret it like me, It sounds only slightly "better" then when my OEM muffler had a 1 inch hole in it. It did my it abit more peppy it seems like.
Might look for a muffler to replace the MBRP one tho, just cant use oem replacements, as the mbrp increased the pipe size from the cat back.

Im not fully sure many exhausts will sound like thier V8 counter-parts, or even close. Mine doesnt, I heard afew clips of it on V8s and it was great.

I was actually looking at that MBRP exhaust a little while ago, good thing I didn't go for it then. Also I was thinking of a cat back now with no resonators, because I found a shop that will do it for the same price as piecing it together with the stock pipe. For muffler wise still deciding on whether to do a 40 series or magnaflow. Has anyone heard of flopro? The guy there said it was like a magnaflow, but cheaper.

Thanks

Steve

The cheapest thing to try is a muffler delete. I have two resonators on my v8 still but dumped the muffler and put straight pipe in its place. The sound is fantastic and everyone loves it. I'm not sure how it will sound on the 3.7.

I do know that my brother's 03 Ram with 3.7 had a stock 3" exhaust with 1 resonator and the big muffler but sounded mean. We both loved it. I imagine with a more aggressive muffler it would have been just about perfect.
