Thinking of Buying An 06 Dakota Quad Cab 2wd......
Hey guys,
I'm brand new to the forum. I'm looking to buy my first truck, mostly as a daily driver.
I've found a couple 2006 Dakota Quad Cab V8's with 2wd that I am looking at. Both are asking about $10800, with about 90k miles.
Is there anything in particular I should be scared about as far as this model of Dakota goes? I've heard they had some problems with bad vibration, is that true?
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!!

This is a biased, incorrect and ignorant statement. All vehicles have problems. If maintained properly, 3rd gen Daks are very dependable and capable trucks. Sure, there are a few Monday trucks in the mix, but that is true for any vehicle.

Let me first state that I love my '07. Secondly, (as mentioned above) check that front end suspension, specifically the struts. When you'e doing the test drive, see how much it bounces around, especially at highway speeds or over speed bumps. Not a deal breaker, but if they're bad, get them to knock the price down so you can replace them.
Thirdly, I'd look into an '08+ model year v8. More horses and torque stock. Shouldn't be that much of a price difference either between the 05-07 and the 08+.
Good luck, if you buy one, post a pic!

In south Fl August 2014 I bought an 05 Quad Cab 2wd hard tonneau cover, radio, and 80% tires with 84k miles. Private party wanted $9,999. Was throwing code for trans solenoid and staying in 2-3 till restart and a search said solenoid was most likely the problem. Seller settled on $9,200 as I told him it would cost about $700 to fix at shop. I fixed myself for $300 part plus I wanted to change all fluids anyways.
I searched cl for 8 months and it was an ok deal but now I consider it a great deal. Tonneau cover is worth its weight in gold, truck actually has a full $1000+ system, and 2"-4" lift. Turns out my brothers coworker traded it in 8 month prior if I haad heard about it I could have saved another $1000+ via a direct purchase. I needed the truck as I waited to purchase till my car was sold.
