without knowing the exact motor, look at the basics. air intake (air filter, carbon deposits), spark (check the spark plugs and replace if necessary), fuel (fuel injectors may be clogged) and the trans fluid.

air filter is easy, check and see how dirty it is. carbon deposits, run a can of seafoam through the throttle body (the aerosol kind, easier then the liquid through vacuum lines)
spark plugs, take them off and check the gap, check the ground strap and electrode. if the ground strap and electrode are wearing themselves out, then the plugs are shot and need replacing. run a good fuel injector cleaner (i like seafoam for this also) and after a tank you should notice a difference if it's just the injectors. for the trans fluid, check the dipstick and see the condition of the fluid, if it's brown or black and smells burned, your trans is slipping and may need a rebuild (hopefully it's not it)

I have the same problem on my 4.7L 08 Dakota. I did all of thoes checks too, replace spark plugs, used sea foam and did fule injection cleaner still no improvment it's been like this on my truck for a few months now. It's almost like you are dragging a load or something right? I did a vaccum test on mine came back good and of course no codes at all. I'm working on setting up for a fuel pressure test while driving under a load to see if its a bad fuel pump. If I find anything out I'll post back to you. Don't feel bad though your not the only person with this problem. If you find out how to fix it please post back because I have been search for months for an answer and got nothing yet.

Someone suggest to me,on another website, too look at the crankshaft positions sensor because it could possibly cause a similar problem to what we have. I haven't done it yet but I plan on doing that soon. It's only a $30 part and it look easy to replace might be worth a shot. If I get any more answers or if I find out anything else that helps fix the issue I'll keep you updated.

here's a thought, check your tire pressure, I normally run 40 psi and seems to give truck less résistance, also a god plug for these motors are the autolite 3923, they are a step cooler than stock.

Seeing that I have the same problem on my 4.7 that you have on your 3.7 I'm gonna go to the assumption that it's not engine related so I think we need to look into other system that are the same on both trucks. That may narrow down where the problem is comming from. Maybe bad wiring on the accelerator pedal or something.

Any resolution to your problem? I'm still having a similar problem on my truck and I was wondering if you had a fix.

soco3087 I was going to get in touch with you over the weekend. well after getting to point where i was ready to drive it off a cliff lol of getting no luck from the dodge dealer and the unknown amount spent at the parts store for filters 4 cans of seafoam plugs and instead of fixing the issue it just made a whole in my pocket so with doing all that pierrejoly sugessted except one thing so i took a day off of work and made the 1 1/2 drive to the city and went to AAMCO transmission they took it for a drive pulled it in hook a machine to it 5 minutes later said good news and bad news tranny comes out good but the torque converter is locked up and torque converter clutch is malfunctioning so i left truck there and took there rental they replaced converter and clutch, flushed tranny and its been 8 days now and running like new idk what tranny you got i have the 42LE but if you have same type of converter i would have that tested cost me 785 for work

clementerclark Gald to hear that your truck is running good and that the problem finally got fixed. I know how annoying it can be to not be able to fix something you know is screwed up. I don't know what transmission I have but I will fine out and I will definitely get my truck to a transmission shop to have that checked out. Quick question to you. When you had that problem was it intermittent or did it happen everytime and never went away? Also was there ever a light or code that was thrown before you took it to them to fix. Again I really appricate the response back I see hope in my future to getting my truck running right again.
