Default 05 dakota limp mode

So i have an 05 dakota with 270k on the clock. I picked it up for 1k and it had the p700 trans codes like normal. So i replaced the solinoid s and valve body bought the package so i did have to take anything extra apart. Bam installed and no codes.
drove fantastic the first time and now the second time right back into limp mode but with no codes?
where do i look next

First steps should be:
  • New fluid & OEM trans filters.
  • Condition of battery? A weak one does some crazy things to these trucks.

Also to add to the confusion my code reader will not earse codes and wont read codes unless the truck is running. With just the key on my reader will just try to connect then state that there is no communtication.

Erase codes with key on, engine off. Little thing no one ever says but expects all to know. Good Luck.

Thats the problem. It wont connect. Turn key on. Code reader fires right up. Tries to connect then states there is a communtication failure.

Yes oem filter

888 means the pcm isn't seeing voltage at the trans from the relay that supplies power. (or, at least, is supposed to supply power....) So, you get limp mode. Fix that code first, and I bet things start working properly again.

Worst case, you can disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to clear codes.
