Default Engine Knock

I'm curious are there any other Dakota owners experiencing/experienced an issue with an engine knock? I have a 2010 Dakota (54K miles) with the 4.7 V8. Apparently this is an issue in other model vehicles that have the same motor (Jeep/Ram). I've notified Dodge about the problem and am currently waiting to see what determination they are going to make as far as what caused the engine to fail. According to some of the threads that I've read that this problem can be caused by different things, some say it's a design flaw. The cylinder heads are getting to hot causing the pistons to drop or it's wrist slap and some say that the walls of the cylinder heads are to thin. One thread said that it was an oil weight issue that you should use 10/30 others say use 5/30, if your using one over the other you get a sludge problem, if your using the lighter weight it causes a heat problem. Like seriously, what gives. Have any of the engineers at Chrysler looked into this?
I'm really concerned about this, is this a real problem and that it's so wide spread between models that it's not being determined as an actual manufacturing problem.

The only thing I'm aware of is the pressed in valve seats that can fall if it overheats.

It isn't a common issue. That company is a rebuilder and had a vested interest in upselling their their fixes to OEM problems.

The 4.7 is extremely reliable when maintained properly. Keep oil changed and don't overheat it. Good advice for any motor.

You definitely have an issue that is not at all common. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on Dodge to offer any assistance or advice, but hopefully they will shock us all with an answer.

That was the first link that popped up in my search. It's something I was made aware of on this forum. If you take care of your cooling system and never overheat, no problems.

I'm wondering if JerseyGirl is hearing the busted-exhaust-stud tick-tick-tick until it warms up?
