Default '08 Intake Manifold

Has anyone in this forum swapped out their 2004-2007 Dakota intake manifold for an 2008? If so did you have (1) any clearance issues and (2) how did you overcome the throttle body conversion? Is there a ready made bolt-on TB with minimum modifications. I assume that a mounting / spacer plate may have to be made.

Hey bperkins. thanks for your reply. I had seen those mods before ... but damn ... they are expensive ... lol
Wow! ... $269.00 USD for a "L" shaped bracket and square chunk of aluminum with minimal milling. I guess the price point is what the demand will bear. There are a couple of vids on youtube with a guy called "martinbuilt" he takes a 75mm GM LS throttle body and makes it work. He also makes his own ram-air system which is interesting. I'm going to approach a friend who is a millwright and has a milling machine. I'll do some CAD drawings for reference. Suppose I could find a shop with a CNC as well ... wonder what the cost would be on that. All in all definitely a mod i'm shooting for this spring.

Dumb question, what’s the benefit of the 08’ intake over the previous years listed?

Repacing the intake alone does nothing really. The heads and cylinders still only accept the same volume of air regardless of a higher flowing intake. Same logic as a cold air intake.

There is a degree of “pent up energy” present in the intake charge when it hits the closed intake valve. An oscillating pressure wave is set up within the column of gaseous material transiting each intake runner. With just the right length, it is possible to “time” this wave so it pushes the fuel-air into the combustion chamber with more force than normal. It’s like a mild form of supercharging. Dodge applied the theory of ram tuning to its engines as a means of picking up some free horsepower, fuel economy and torque through the use of skillfully designed intake manifolds.

In 2008 Dodge perfected their 4.7 Magnum intake manifold.
