Default 2005 dodge Dakota

When I brought this truck it had a key fob but no internals. I brought 2 new one and took it to the local automotive locksmith. They tried 2 different programming tools. They can get the keys to start the truck but will not unlock or lock it. The locksmith told me that there might be something wrong with the truck and to take it to the dealership. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jared

Are you sure the truck is equipped with power locks?

Do the locks open under power from inside the truck? IE, the switches?

How's the fuses?

Have you asked the dealership for a quote on new keys? When I compared the local recommended lock smith to them (9/2011) the dealership was only $3 more so I just used them.

50 for the key and over 150 to program I believe. It’s only 59 to program at the locksmith.
