Default Help with tire choice

So I’m super indecisive on what tires to get. My current tires have good tread life left but uneven where so I get a lot of pulling even after an alignment.

First off, do these trucks require the use of LT rated tires? Or would P rated be ok? I don’t haul much and if I do it’s mostly camping equipment and the occasional small pop-up tent trailer. I will be purchasing some Monroe Load Adjusting shocks to help with any load I have anyway. I ask because I found a deal on some Falken Wildpeak AT3W’s for $119/tire but they’re P rated. I also found a deal on Hankook Dynapro ATM’s for $110/tire that are also P rated.

The other two options I’m looking at are the Ironman All Country in an LT for the same price as the P rated Falkens and also the Atturo Trail Blade AT which is also an LT tire for about $106/tire.

I am somewhat limited on budget which is why I’m trying to find the best budget AT tire. What do you guys think about the load rating? What would you pick?

P rated is fine. I ran those Hankooks. Great tires.

Good to hear it. Thanks. I’m leaning towards those right now I think. Though I like the Falkens more aggressive look.

I just put on Kumho Road Venture AT51s on my Dakota. I almost got the Falkens you're looking at, but the Kumho's came equally recommended from my local mechanic and were a little cheaper than the Falkens. The best price delivered that I found was on Amazon. Mine are P-rated. I'm not sure that you gain enough on the Dakota to justify the expense of LTs.

I can agree with that. I feel like most smaller pick-ups it’s not worth the LT price tag. The Atturo Trail Blades I was looking at were LTs and cheaper than the Hankook’s I ended up ordering but even with the good reviews I wasn’t sold. Plus the Hankook’s have a slightly more aggressive sidewall which is appealing.

Discount Tire will have a July 4th tire & wheel sale on July 4th, which starts tomorrow Friday the 28th. I've used them a few times, and as stated above, P tires will be fine.

an LT tire will only help if you need the extra load or need the extra plies like in construction, mining or severe off-road use. otherwise yes, a P rated tire is all you need. Many LT rated tires have load range E and can take the entire weight of the dakota on one tire, which i used to laugh at when offroad and a tire (or two sometimes) would be off the ground. My passengers would freak until i would tell them that i can support everyone on one tire and not have to worry about it. The LT tires did make it stiffer and when aired up to normal street pressure a little bouncier if i put too much air.
