Default Power roll on

I’m wondering if anyone can tell me what causes my truck to roll into power during take off. It doesn’t have instant power it just like takes off slow and rolls into the power.

Maybe needs a tune up. Your description is too vague to give a definitive answer.

Unless you noticed a change in something this is just how the 08+ 4.7 is. I've had several Dakota's with the 4.7 and there was a clear change in power delivery for 08+ versus 07 and older. The 08+ models have more power but it comes in higher in the RPM band. They almost feel like a Japanese V8. Not a lot of off the line grunt but gets a strong surge and pulls hard above about 3500rpms. It loves to stretch and run on the interstate.

The 07 and older were just the opposite to me. Better low end grunt but just didn't pull as well on the top end.

Sorry for the vague description. It feels exactly like rodslinger described. I’ve heard of a death tune in the trans. Is this a byproduct of that tune?
