Default Do the struts for an 05-09 Dakota fit a 2011?

Just looking at buying a set of Monroe 171100 that aren’t listed as fitting my 2011 off a dude on Facebook marketplace for uber cheap. Will they work on my 2011 or was there a design change in the front suspension between 2009 and 2011?

My truck is a 4x4 with the 4.7 V8. Just bought it, so forgive the ignorance!

I'd do a search on Monroe's website. Search for the part by inputting the trucks make, model and year. This will tell you which of their part numbers are made for your truck. And, search by part number. This will tell you what makes, models, and years the 171100 is made for.

Yes. ^^ Comparing part numbers is the easiest way to find your answer.

Nothing was changed, so I would buy them if I were in your shoes.
Even the Rancho struts on my truck were only listed for the 2005 model year Dakota when I got 'em.
Part numbers listings don't seem to always be correct with our trucks.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks mate! I appreciate that very much. In this case the Monroe website lists different shocks for the 2010 and 2011 model years, which is what had me wondering if they'd work.

2005 - 2009 (4WD):
171100 - Quick-strut assembly
71100 - Reflex strut
181100 - RoadMatic assembly
801100 - Monro-Matic plus strut

2010 - 2011:
72517 - OESpectrum strut

72517 has a flat spring seat, where-as 71100 and 801100 do not. 171100 (and 181100) come with the spring and upper mount, so provided all of the mounts are same between 2005 and 2011 it seems like it should work.

The one core difference I see is that 171100 has 4.64" of travel where as the 2010-2011 shock (72517) has 4.95" of travel. For my application, I think this should be fine. For anyone doing more offroading, that may be a more impactful change.

Anyone else have experience with this before I try it out this weekend?

Did the Monroe 171100 end up working on your 2011? I have a 11 trx4.

Sadly didn't end up trying. Sorry I can't be of more help mate. All my research indicated they would work, but just wouldn't have quite the same travel.

is your 2011 a 4x4? I am thinking of trying the quick struts as well.
