Default Rancho, KYB, Monroe, ???

I've asked before and just spent some time searching thru this forum. Thought I'd post and ask if there was anything new or the same old same old. Need new shocks/struts. Have no problem using the original springs if it means installing a better strut. Also want a matching set front and rear. From what I can tell Rancho is about as good as we can do? I drive primarily on the road, but do hike and drive off road to get to trail heads or 4WD only trails to fishing spots. Picture using the truck for work and hauling gear during the week, then a 4 hour highway drive to a 3 hour 4WD road into a trailhead.

Also wondering what other parts, and which versions, I should be replacing while I'm in there? Strut mounts, bushings, etc... And I've come across posts about some brands of strut mounts not working with certain brand struts, etc. Just looking for this to go as painlessly as possible. Thanks in advance!

Just buy the complete strut assembly and make the repair easy peasy. Rancho will not sell you the complete strut assembly. Try a Moog or Monroe.

Moog makes strut assemblies for our trucks? That would be cool! I was only aware of the Monroes.

For the rest of suspension and steering parts go with either Mopar or Moog. I prefer Moog for the quality and price point.

I saw moog made a quick strut like monroe, does anyone have any feedback on the moog struts? I have a bunch of new moog stuff to put in my front end, just waiting until I have everything before tearing into it. I heard the Monroe struts sit a little higher than stock, does that mean the Monroe struts shouldnt need the 2" spacer I have waiting to put in?

I did the higher quality Monroe quick strut on my son's Sequoia and it raised the front end at least an inch.

I think I'm going to go Rancho and have a local shop put them on using the stock springs. I have to load/unload gear into the bed of the truck fairly regularly so would rather not raise the truck height. I also go off road in the desert and mountains (Sierras) at least a few times a year so want a setup that's capable without going extreme. I think the Rancho struts & shocks along with some LT tires to compliment the 4WD will get me most places I want to go.

Iantzd - what other parts are you putting on your front end? I was about to post a thread asking for while I'm in there suggestions when replacing struts.

If you're loading and unloading the bed a lot, you might consider the Monroe load adjustors.

If anyone figures out the part numbers for the Moog strut assembly, please, post it. I looked at the webpage and didn't find it for our trucks.

Moog quick strut assemblies: ST8610(2WD) and ST8623(4WD)

You guys who've put the Rancho's on - if you replaced it, which strut mount did you use? I'd like to make sure I get something compatible.

Thanks!

I had the RS5757 struts and replaced them with the Monroe Quick strut. I would of gone with Moog struts had I known about them plus I had just replace the entire front suspension with Moog
