I was thinking about what someone said about the PCM being vin specific. I asked my self how? what on the truck other than the pcm is going to tell the pcm what the Vin is? So I think as long as the new/used one comes from a donor that is the same, engine/trans combo it should work

There was a recent post from someone else who changed their PCM due to other problems/codes and it ran fine without reprogramming until codes reappeared again, possibly unrelated to the PCM itself. (I think it had to do with CAN-bus communications issues.)

Older vehicles ran on just the Pcm, newer have a separate module for each function and they are all Vin locked. The security system probably won't like it if a new Pcm is put in and not flashed to match the different hardware configuration. If anyone happens to have a leftover Pcm that's gone bad I'd like to take a look to see what inside causes the failures as I plan on getting into flashing once I have the time and cash.
