What does installing bigger rims do to your speedometer/odometer readings? I am thinking about putting 20" rims on my 05 Dakota but don't want to do it if it's going to cause a lot of other work to make the readings correct.

Provided the diameter of your 20" wheel with tire, is the same as your current tire and rim setup, it wont change anything.

However, if you do change the diameter, then you could possibly alter your readings yes.
You can just see a Dodge Dealership and they can adjust/reset that for you.

Diameter being if you take a tape measure and measured from the outside of your tire across your tire, across your rim, to the opposite matching side of your tire.

If that number is the same as they new rim and tires you put on the truck, you should be okay.

Thanks I really appreciate it. I am new to this whole modifying thing...I have generally left my vehicles stock except for a few cosmetic additions and new stereos. Really looking at getting new rims though so just wanted to know what I was getting myself in to.

Just make sure you keep your stock wheels for winter if you are in an area that gets snow. 20's in the snow arent all that great, plus chrome and salt never mix well

Hmmm, good to know...I drive most of the year in snow...I live in Alaska. Good thing we don't use salt up here.

You would be referring to BaumbleBee's Dak, and she does in fact have a very schweet looking 3rd Gen Dakota.

You can view her picture gallery to see her ride....I'll leave a picture too [8D] Great looking truck....it's one of the few 3rd Gen's I'd love to own or buy.

That truck is gorgeous....

For some reason on the ram the 20s look huge.. but that pic makes em look small.

I'd love to buy a set for my white dak... but all my funds go to my zuki lol

A lot cheaper than I thought they'd be.. I might have to convince the wife into it
