Default RE: Dakota 4.7 Vs Ram 4.7

ORIGINAL: Drakkon

Dakota Gross Weight 6010 lbs.
Ram Gross Weight 6350 lbs.
The weights quoted are just that : Gross or in other words, fully loaded to the max.

I am in the process of setting up my new 06 Dak QC 4.7 with several extras that have added to the weight. Tublar chrome rails and tonneau cover are not exactly light.

Since this is my new tow vehicle for camping I needed to know where things stood (weightwise) when loading both the Dak and the camper and not to exceed the Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Ratio ( Dak + camper) and still not exceed the individua GVWR. So off to the CAT scales to get weighed: http://www.catscale.com/locator.shtml

My Dak with the extras + myself + full gas tank + my Golden Retriever sidekick totaled 5260 lbs.
Steer axle = 2960
Drive axle = 2300

Weight taken on 12-31-05

Hope this helps.

ORIGINAL: FONTANA MOTORSPORTS

heres the curb weights...of both...... (gross is total with passengers and payload)

DAKOTA SLT 4WD QUAD CAB

Base Curb Weight - with Manual Transmission [lb] 4579

RAM 1500 4WD QUAD CAB

Base Curb Weight - with Automatic Transmission [lb] 5297

Welll.. there is actualy around a 800 lbs difference between the dakota quad and the ram quad....actually more of a difference than i thought.....the club cab dakota is 90 lbs lighter than the quad cab...........i know for a fact that the standard dakota 4.7 is seriously detuned (in the total timing curve programming)...i ve read that they have a max of 22 degrees of total timing....for performance use (or on most engines) total timming is from 35-42 degress...............

i was about to bring that up as well

yay, my truck is lighter because its not a 4x4

kinda crazy how the dak is only 300lbs heavier than the srt-8 charger

Hi Blu_,
I'm not towing quite that much - Flagstaff MAC 205 - comes in at about 2400 lbs.
Just my wife and I and our Golden Retriever.
