car wash?
I know this is really dumb, but is it ok to wash a new car right away? I was speaking with a friend of mine that got an Chevy Equinox, and the dealer told them he couldn't wash it for 3 months because the paint needs to set or something. Is this true for the Dakota, or is it a line of BS?

RE: car wash?
I believe someone just resently suggested you seat yourself down and read your owners manual. Just about the first thing that happens when a vehicle is taken off the transport is it gets washed. The dealer may even have it washed just before you pick it up. PS I have some extra Halogen fluid in case your headlight high beams are running low. God is going to punish me I just know.

Yeah that's a load of B.S.
Once every week they usually have all the cars on the lot washed (in the summr), and then they have them cleaned up for "delivery" when you pick up the car/truck.
By the way, they don't wash the cars when they come off the truck. I worked at a Dodge dealer for 3 years. They come off the truck clean (from the factory), then they're "prepped", and put on the lot

When they prep a vehicle:
They just double check all the fluids, check the battery voltage, top off the windshield washer fluid, check the tire pressure, plug in any fuses that aren't plugged in (like door locks/radio), take all the plastic off the new seats & the floor, remove any stickers, put the antenna on, put in the floormats, check the vehicle over, and usually fill it with gas too.....there's a checklist sheet that they go thru for EVERY new car. I'm sure there's some other tiny little things, but that's the main jist of it.
Sometimes they have to install roof rails too (for a cargo rack), if a vehicle comes with it from the factory.
They usually do a quick test drive too (just to the gas station to fill it) to make sure everything is okay too.

Then the lot you worked for sucked ***. All of our lots clean the cars right after the PDI is completed in the shop. All the lots around here that i know workers at do the same. Considering the fact that the plasitc on the car during shipments leaves retarded amounts of Lines (from either glue on some makes, or trace lines from the plastic on static cling type covers ) and bugs/dirt/anything you can think of.
