I was doin a little work on my truck today and wandered back towards the exaust and noticed its a bit blacker than i remember (pics attached)

Might I be running a bit rich? anyone else scene this sorta blackness? or am i just paranoid?

only mod I've done is the airaid intake and that should make it run lean if anything [&:]

My '05 has some, but nothing excessive. Side observation though,Drakkon, I notice from the pix there is lot road junk build up on the under panel. Sooner or later, that's going to start rusting out. Suggest rear mudflaps. That's one of the first things I did after I bought my truck and that area has stayed clean.

could be the gas you are running. try using better gas like mobil or sunoco. stay away from mom and pop stores. i have 18000 miles on my 05 and exhaust looks nothing like that. might need to tweak your fuel management. before you installed your intake did you disconect the neg. battery cable? after putting system in you need to start and stop ignition 3 times. they dont tell you this. that way computer can sence there is a change and adjust everything.

I disconnected neg terminal while installing...i didnt know about the start/stop thing though. I've run the truck over 8K miles since i put it on and gone through 2 oil changes though. Is there still something i should do there? I have 15K miles on the truck.
I stick to 87 octance Circle K / 76 / Chevron gas primarily, never gone to any mom and pop stores.

Hrmm, this whole start/stop 3 times thing. Can that be done now? Like, if I disconnect the battery and put it back on?

Or no?

after 8000 mile truck would have reconized up grade. check to make sure you hoses are still connected around intake and throttle body.

I'm thinking i might try a reset on the system of sorts...put back on the old air filter/body...do the restart 3 times this time ...drive around for 500-100 miles...see how its doing...then put back on the airraid and see what it does then. At that point be ready for next oil change (i get em free from dealer every 3K miles) and then have them check it out if its still that bad.
