Need help amp/speaker install
Hi,
I'm trying to add new speakers and a new amplifier BUT keep the factory headunit. Thought I needed to bypass amp and make connections but I was told by Crutchfield just to tap into existing factory amp connections (in other words, keep factory amp connected and add my amp). Is this true? Do I even need to bypass the factory amp (using Crutchfield bypass harnass)?
Any info. (as always) is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Factory Receiver : Aftermarket amp (high level converters) : Aftermarket speakers (components in front, 2-way in rear)
Ok. Another question?
I was told the signal is crossed at the factory amp. So where do I get the signal from the factory receiver and/or factory amp to connect my aftermarket amp (I'm talking about speaker connections - via the high level converters)??? Where do I tap in? There is a front left, front right, front left tweeter, front right tweeter, rear left, rear right. If I tap into say front left, I'm concerned that the signal has already been crossed via the factory amp and that it's not "clean".
This may be a bit confusing. If so, maybe it's time to take it to the professionals.
Thanks.

from what i understand from you. do you have the infiniti system or the basic system. mine is basic and did not need any of that cross over stuff. simple unplug-plug and away we go. i just ran different speaker wire for the rears. went with boxed 6x9
I have the factory infinity, components in front.
This is what I've learned...using the factory receiver and aftermarket amp, aftermarket speakers may not be possible. The signal coming from the factory receiver only has a rear channel signal (I'm guessing this is because of CAN-BUS, anyone know what this is? I see the CAN-BUS wires). This goes to the factory amp which I guess then crosses the signal to the front components then to the rear speakers.
I could use line converters to splice the signal but I don't think this is the best scenario. Either I'll be getting the already crossed signal and/or just the rears. So basically, the only why that I know of to get the factory headunit to work with an aftermarket amp is buy a new headunit. Or buy some new technology to harnass the signal from the factory receiver.
I'm no expert but whey do automakers have to make this so hard and/or necessary. For the money I paid for the factory stereo, I could've built a kickass system.
Thanks.

On another note, I have the premium infinity system with front tweeters. I'm trying to install aftermarket components. Guess what? The front tweeter covers are fused to the door panel so they won't come off...easily. Hmmm...guess gonna have hole saw right thru them and see what happens.

i see know. i did not have the infiniti system, just the dodge system. thats why my system was a simple plug and play one.as afr as the infiniti system you might want to talk to a dodge tech about components. or go to a local shop that deals with high quality infiniti components

You might wanna see if someone will swap you door panels (in good condition of course) + some cash instead of ruining those tweeters.
I'm sure someone without tweeters might want them....cuz I mounted my (aftermarket) Infinity tweeters in the stock location.
