instrument panel lights
Hey I was talking to someone tonight and they were talking about wanting to change their light(s) behind the instrument panel for the speedometer and the such. Honestly I'm very interested in trying this out. So I wanted to know if anyone had attempted anything with the instrument panel on the 05 or 06 dakotas? If not, I guess I'll just have to try this one out on my own! My goal is to change the backlighting in order to change the color. This guy wants red, and I'm headin for blue, so if anyone knows, any help would be grealty appreciated! Thanks!
Hey jimbo your headlights and fog lights, what kind of bulbs are those and where did you get them, i have blue bulbs in my truck now but within a month or two the high beams burnt out that sucks!!!. so if you could reply asap i would be thankful.
Thankyou Chad,
Thankyou Chad,
Yeah man, I got my headlights on eBay from a place called MCR Style. My headlights are 8500K and the foglights are 8000K Xenons. They work really well and I've never had a problem with them. But there's another seller that's come out with brighter ones (link below). And also the foglights, which I found out were model H10 bulbs instead of what my manual said (9006).

Hope this helped you out!
I am going to be uploading a video very soon of how to install load resistors for LED lighting! I will post the video as soon as i'm done with it.

yeah mine did...somehow the fixture and the lights like it's really weird...i don't get how dodge made the foglight fixtures, but did you get them in and working at least?
Yes sir. I got them in. How do I adjust the headlights? The left one is a little lower than the right one.

look in the manual for the exact screw to adjust the headlights, it's on the inner portion of the fixture, and is an aluminum colored screw, in between the two mounting screws next to the grill (if that made sense). It uses an alan wrench to adjust it.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but it would be impossible to change the cluster lighting
Why? you ask
Because it's electroluminescent (EL glow) meaning that there are no light bulbs behind the cluster......it's like the aftermarket EL gauge faces on ebay--they don't really change color they're just a shade of blue/green. So we already have that style of gauges from the factory.
Example:

The only way to change the color of the gauges would be to replace the gauge face with an aftermarket one that glows a different color which they probably don't/won't ever make since we already have EL glow gauges.

so basically we're screwed and stuck with that green of doom for all eternity in our dakotas? hmmm...how does this EL Glow work anyways?
