I just ordered the gibson exhaust extreem duals. I wanted the pipes to come out behind the wheels and not out the back like every other truck on the road. The place I ordered it from said it isnt that loud and wont groan in the cab going down the road, that I will believe when I drive it. I didnt get it polished as it isnt a show truck. Gibson has sound clips on it's website. The system was was pricy I thought, came to 800 something installed. Local shops wanted about half but it isnt a tuned system and I hate "cut-and-paste" systems so for my needs I dont mind spending the money. I need to decided on a CAI before the pipes arrives, suggestions? Also next week the dealer will be installing the Navagation system for the Dak. Hopefully the truck will have alittle more pep, I love this truck but damm this 4.7L is slow and has me thinking supercharger!

Well, first off why are you having a shop put your exhaust in? I rolled mine up on ramps and did the whole thing at my house. You just need a good ratchet set and about an hour and a half. I would go with the airaid, same gains as the K&N and you can get a good price from www.premiertruckaccessories.com if you call them and tell them you are a dodge forum member.

I just moved from DC to TX and renting a small place until I find a house to buy and dont have anywhere but the street to hang the pipes (plus all my tools are in storage). I cant wait to get a house with a garage, I miss it. The arid one look good, but thinking I want a polished intake so not sure where to go. Thanks for the link I will contact them!

i have the three inch single cat back and it is loud. i had to put a bed rug in to help with the noise. at times it sounds great and at times it is nerve racking.

superdak05

Is yours the Gibson exhaut or one of the others? I'm gettign ready to order th Gibson single sideswept to try to improve my towing ability of my 3.7 QC but I don't want loud.
I have a QC with the factory bedliner and a slick looking Leer topper. The truck's way too nice to make annoying.

QCDak,

$800 clams for an aluminized Gibson system is a bitter pill to swallow. You should be able to get a true duals system welded at a local shop for that kind of price (aleast close to it).

I bought the Polished Stainless System from MagnaFlow (what I consider to be a superior product - to each his own) for pennies under $400. Yes it is the system everyone else has but its stainless and polished.

In any case (and I don't want to rain on your parade) any exhaust system is not likely to give a drastic improvement to power/performance. It certainly will help high engine speed performance but the main change will be the audible one. A CAI system will help recover the lost low speed performance due to the free flowing exhaust but little gain will be noted overall!

Thanks! I know isnt going to give really any performance, I just want it to look good. I miss quoted the price (I ordered a bunch of stuff) The system was 377.99 and 200 something to install (I know waste not doing myself, but no room to do it). My toneau cover was more than the exhaust and I ordered a few little things. The tips are still polished and that is what you really see so thats all I wanted. I am not looking to trun the dak into a drag truck, just want a better sound out of it. I talked to bell superchargers, now that would be a nice part to have! Of coarse I will never know if it gained any HP cuz I dont really run it that hard now.

The exhaust looks great and sounds awesome. Doesnt seem to droan too much in the cab, but you know it is there. Guy at shop didn't tighten down my driver tail pipe and I almost lost it, but I tightened it down. I would suggest it, however bit louder that I planned, but when you jusmp on it, it really sounds sweet!!! I did the extreem duals so the pipes come out behind the wheels not to blow exhaust on trailer. If anyone interested I will take pictures.

I'm leaning towards the gibson extreme duals that come out behind the wheels, do any of you guys have an pics, cuz I'm a little worried about how it is going to look. I like the out the back style but everyone has that.

Got a Gibson Single cat-back exhaust on my 05. 2nd best investment. you can feel the HP. Not too loud but you know it's there. Looked at Flowmasters - Too loud.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. [sm=usa.gif]
