Default 05 Dakota stalling, help please!

I have a 2005 Dakota quad cab with the 4.7 and auto tranny. I don't have the High output motor. The truck has 15,000 miles on it and sometimes has a problem with a stumbling idle and often a stall from time to time when you are stopped or almost barely moving. This doesn't happen all the time but enough that it is a problem, the engine will be idling fine and then all of a sudden start vibrating and stumbling and the tach needle slightly bounces below where it normally is then unless you give it some gas it stalls out. Any suggestions as to what is causing this? I have taken it into the dealership twice and all they do is hook it up to a scanner and take a little test drive and tell me they can't find anything and it's getting ridiculous. My wife drives my daughter around in this truck so stalling when you are about to pull out into traffic is dangerous. I only use BP gas and it has been doing this off and on since January. I haven't tried to see if it stalls in Park so all of the stalls have occured when it was still in drive with my foot on the brakes and completely stopped or just barely limping along. Any suggestions? Thanks!

so when you take it out of park and put a load on engine this occurs. a couple of things. your timing for the fuel injectors could be off. the crank shaft sensor controls the amount of pulse it needs to send to the fuel system. if this is moved just a little bit everything will be out of wack. could be a bad pcm module.or even a short in the electrical system.

my 05 v6 does that.. except for the stalling.

i have about 24k miles on it... its done it about 10 times since about two months after i bought it.

whenever i'm at a stop, sometimes the engine starts to jump around. u can feel the vibration throughout the whole truck. rpm guage going up n down.. feels like its going to stall but mine hasnt yet.

when i give it a lil gas it goes away.

have you added on any extra electrical components? I added a 400w inverter to my truck and ran the - wire back to the same - wire that was on the battery and whenever i would come to a stop my truck would stall then turn off, maybe take a couple times to restart it. When my dealer said there was a drain on my alternator i took it off and it hasn't stalled once...just a thought i wanted to add.

It is bone stock, nothing has been added to the truck.

Do you have the air conditioner on when this happens?

My guess is that it's the AC compressor clutch engaging while the cooling fan is declutched. Idling in drive = low cooling airflow = higher refrigerant temperatures in the condenser = higher pressure at the compressor = more compressor NVH and loading, right at the time you'll most notice it.

A test for this might be to hit the AC button when the truck acts up and see if the symptoms go away.

Just recently, it started back in January or February when it was still in the 40's in the mornings and it stalled out then. If I put it in Park it will idle fine but if I am stopped and have it in drive with my foot on the brake it will sometimes start stumbling and if I don't let off the brake and let it roll a foot or two it will die, if I do that it will regain idle and be ok. I have no idea what to do, the dealership only wants to hook it to a scanner and if the truck doesn't throw a code(which it hasn't both times I have taken it in) then there isn't a problem according to the dealership. My wife is ready to ditch the truck and get something else but I really like it and need it so I need a fix soon or it's caravan time for me! Help!!!!!!!!!

Your not the only one. Whenever it's warm out its starts stalling and bucking or sometimes you step on the gas and the r's hit 3-5k before you back it down and goes .
