05 Dakota stalling, help please!
I bought my Dakota last summer and it had a rough idle and stalled on me a couple of times. I swapped the plugs out for some NGKs,noticed some of the factory plugs weren't gapped the same. The new plugs seemed to taken care alot of the problem,it stills idles a little rough but nothing like it did before the plug change and hasn't stalled sense. I used just the copper core V grove plugs from NGK. I have around 20,000 on the plugs still running good and the 4.7 is the easiest motor I've ever changed plugs on.
Don't get nervous, mine would occasionally do the rough idle thing and that stop light chug. It was pure stock then. I have not had any of those problems since I installed my upgrades.
I am also suspicious of the trans or trans sensors in the case of the stop light chugging. Like maybe the clutches weren't disengaging and letting the trans downshift. That may be why rolling a few feet stops the chug, because the trans sensors may reread and reset the trans.

I took my truck in on Wednesday as i had my appointment for that day.
Well as of today Friday,... They still havent even looked at my ****en truck yet.
I was pissed lastnight on the phone speaking to the customer service manager,...
He says he's going to speak to the required people to find out why my truck hasnt even been looked at yet.
I'm going this morning to get a loaner vehicle...
WTF,.. I swear. this is B.S.
More info to follow.

Well,...
I just got back from the stealership and basically what they told me was this,...
I could take the loaner car, keep the truck there until they had the time to get to it and fix it or take my truck home!
Hmm,.. what to do what to do,.. What can i do? hmm so i left my truck there and took the loaner.
WTF. Man whats the point of making an appointment if they dont even stick to it?
I better not get a call saying they couldnt find anything wrong with it and to come pick my truck up it's ready.
DD.
[Edited] Oh,.. the service guy also said some of those Dakota's are having axle problems to so they'll need to check that out as well, so there ya go,.. possible another issue.

Ok,.. I got my truck back tonight.
Here is what the dealer said about the Break Issue.
"Customer States Veh. Is Exhibitting Braking Pulsation.
CK & Advise.
Verified Cust Concerns TSB 05-002-06
Shudder While Braking.
Replaced Rear Brakes and Cut Rear Drums"
"Cust States Vehicle Stalls at Idle
Verified Cust Concerns Chrysler Is Aware Of Problem & Is Working On Software Flash Update"
So as far as stalling goes,.... It sounds like they know of the issue and the service guy told me those that have shown a concern of this issue will be contacted by Dodge when solution is resolved.
So there ya go. Wish Superchip would come out with a programmer,... Hell it'd probably fix that issue for us.

So thats what it is huh we all need a update, i hope they come out with it soon, so if dodge/chrysler know's about all are problems why aren't they doing anything or why are they taking such a long time. This is pure craziness that we're all having the same problems lol.
I have complained that my 06 4.7 HO holds back when the trans. kicks down. Like the engine bogs a bit and surges. Of course, they always say the same thing. “All the codes read OK†I'm tired of this code crap. Just what we need is dweebs as dealer mechanics.
And what’s with the PVC intake manifold?

well took my dakota today in for and mentioned the shuddering/rpm drop to them and they said the same thing
"the problem is known issue and dodge is looking to update the programming" so still no news but it was good to hear my service tech say that it came up with a notice that it is a known issue already to dodge.

Had the same stalling issue with our 2005 dodge dakota v8. Took it to one dealership twice, they hooked it up and guess what... "there is no code showing" and since we can't "recreate" the problem, we don't know what the problem is.
I then took it to a different dealership. He also hooked it up and found no codes, but he actually took the time to inspect the vehicle a little further. He replaced the throttle sensor and since then (about 2 months now), it has not stalled.
