I am not surprised a caravan out ran your truck. Some of those mini-vans really pack a punch! Now lets see a mini van pull something. The dak, even with the HO is NOT a "drag race" vehicle. I got rid of my Saturn VUE 3.5 b/c it everything on the inside was ratteling and it was annoying. I had a CAI and a cat back on it, that VUE could run 0-60 6.5 seconds, it was killer fast (for a suv), but it would not pull anything. No other SUV or truck was quicker in the 35K and below range. I read you are not going to pay a dime on it until it is fixed, aboustlty stupid move. DC isnt going to care! All you are going to do it wreck your credit....good luck getting a loan on another vehicle.

As a suggestion find a local dyno and find out how much HP at the wheels to prove your engine isnt performing well then demand a DC engineer look at it. Maybe you will see that is all the power it has. Sounds like to me to me you have low oil pressure with the chattering valves which may have caused your cam to wear or something. I would NEVER do something like this my self but drain the oil out of it blow the motor up and put the SAME oil you took out back in and have a new motor put in it. I had a buddy years ago with a brand new Ram 1500 that never seemed to run right (was the 4.7) and had no codes and he always had it in the shop. He took it on a long drive and it spun a bearing on its own. Since the new motor he was finally happy and as far as I know he still has the truck. Maybe your tranny doesnt kick down b/c motor has low vaccum pressure. I believe that is a varaible the vehicle uses when shifting gears. This probably is dangerous to do but spray some starting fluid in small burst around the throttle body and vaccuum lines and see if the idle changes. I used to do that to find a leak on my 67 dodge I had when I hade idle problems.

From your other posts I never saw you had engine problems, seemed you hated b/c build quality and cheap interior parts. I honestly say dump it and move on. Life is too short to be miserable every time you turn a key. Maybe you are now just looking for things to be wrong and getting yourself into a frenzy...good luck.

That would not be a good idea the onboard computer records data every second and surely would record the engine blowing with no oil in it....there is more than just the error codes in there and the dealership would pull that data before they touched anything.

You’re kidding right? IT’S A BRAND NEW TRUCK! Why would I have a new engine installed even under warranty? They will replace POS. I'm the dam customer here. Why on this forum are people so pro Dodge and not pro customer. Chrysler Credit is the loaner and I will put the money in escrow until this whole situation is settled in my (the customers favor). Stop this crap about just get rid of the truck. I wanted a Dak. I test drove a Dak. I rented a Dak. The Dak. I have is a POS. Do you think this what I wanted. The noise started within two weeks after I got it, OK. Next It never ran right but it has become worse. Why do I need to do diligent and have a dyno test done? What you all think the only time I have is to spend on a truck. Again I’m the customer. YOU WOULD NOT BE HAPPY IF YOUR TRUCK RAN LIKE MINE! I give up its like brainwashville here. Don’t tell me that this thing is suppose to run like this. You have no idea what I have been through with this toilet.

In all honesty it sounds like your dealer is a dick and doesn't care about you. TRY ANOTHER DEALER, the dealer make all the diffrence in customer survive. I've had dealers like yours who could care less after you buy something and others that go well beyond to help the costomer in trouble. Also is your dealer a 5 star dealer, if so threaten them with taking you dealings with THEM to Dodge, do not tell Dodge about your Dakota they will care less, but a 5 star dealer treating you like crap will raise a big rad flag and get Dodge to put a flame under the dealers a$$ to fix your problems.

Dude I was just offering suggestions. A Dyno whould be a cheap way to PROVE you truck is underperforming. A Dyno would show where and when it was acting up. Also the computer would show how all sensors are working together and thier signals under load. It is really cool to watch them do it. Glad it is not my truck. I hope DC buys it from you and you move on, you just dont listen to any suggestions. Sometimes you may have to spend a bit to get what you want, does it suck yeah but better than being stuck for the full loan term. So if they offer you a brand new engine you wouldn't take it? Why do you think you dererve a whole new turck if it is just determined to be a bad engine? Please dont fire a nasty post back, If sure many are courious....How about give us the phone number of the dealer you take the truck to and we all call asking them why they cant fix your truck, maybe with a few thousand people calling the willl do their best to fix it. Would you like this instead of getting snippy back to people just offering suggestions? I'll do it give me the number!

Yes if the engine is bad and needs internal work or needs to be replaced I or anyone with a brand new 32k$ price tag deserves a replacement vehicle under the Florida Lemmon law. A consumer should not have to be subjected to such absents of quality on any product let alone a major purchase. Reading back on my posts you can see I had a transmission failure, water leak, they had to replace a bad right armrest, the engine start up noise that is not going away and is NOT by any means normal and it runs bad. All this and I haven’t even made my first payment yet. Now, does that sound like a quality product? Is there any one of you Dak owners that want my truck? It’s a beauty! It’s loaded. It is screaming for lots of mods. I have the money to deck it out to the max. If it were as it should be you would be reading about graythang adding all sorts of goods and I would sound like you happy Dak people also. Do you see my point? I have a life, a family and a demanding job. Is it Dodges intention to waste my time at dealers and cause me aggravation beyond what any of us deserve? Like Lil and others, I also want to turn the key in the morning to go to work and smile because I love my truck and love to drive it even to work. That has been taken from me by Dodge. It’s not the Dealers fault. It’s not my fault. It is the manufactures fault 110%. This truck was shoved out the door and it is one of many that are having very frustrating and aggravating problems. I have been to three other Dak Gen3 forums and there are a bunch of very upset 05 and 06 Dak owners with a continuing list of problems and postings that read of misery and dismay by their misfortunes of their purchase and the dealers that seem programmed to tell over and over there is nothing wrong it is normal. This my friends sucks and it adds up to lemon in every way and there is no excuse for it. However, I thank you for all for your concerns but I just need to fight this battle with every thing I have including a lawyer and the state of Florida. I will not back down.
