Plastic Chrome parts
It would be excellent to have real metal and real triple plated chrome in places where it’s needed the most. On the Laramie the bumper has a plastic chrome cover over the bumper cover and of course the grill is plastic chrome. Problem is it takes nothing to nick and ding it from kicked up debris and just about anything aside from cotton *****.
The stuff is just to light duty for where it’s installed. I would had been better off with the sport painted bumper and grill than this fake chrome stuff. I think maybe I should find a vehicle from the seventies when there were some real materials used. I will most likely need to replace the grill & bumpers chrome looking plastic once a year because I can tell it going to be trashed by than. It’s amazing how much we pay for tuna can metal and plastic.

Perhaps you should sell your truck and buy something else. You certainly don't seem to like it much. I happen to love my '05. I was an owner of an '01. This truck is built FAR BETTER than that one was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Might wanna consider a hood air deflector for that chrome grille. It should dramatically reduce the amount of stuff that gets picked up on the grille and windshield. Won't eliminate it completely, but will reduce it quite a bit. I've also found Turtle Wax Chrome Cleaner to work pretty well in removing bugs and what not from the chrome grille.
The solid chrome bumper were just great in the 70's (sarcastic). They weren't good at all, didnt allow for crush in an accident hurting the person hit and more injury to people in the vehicle themselves. Besides cost there are huge reasons why such stuff isnt used anymore. My Laramie ed Dak seems to be doing well, I often find myself going down dirt roads and gravel roads in TX and my bumper is still perfect. Of coarse I dont get right behind other cars on those roads. Dont tailgate people and you wont get your front end chipped up.
Hey butch settle down homie he was just talking about material's used on the front and rear, not really saying his whole truck is a pos, just be like siverdakotadriver and help graythang with his issue's, i'm telling you this cause i understand where people were coming from with all the bitching back and forth, it's life you know there are going to be little thing's you dont like about a vehicle you purchase but overall you really like, cause you wouldn't of bought it in the first place right, so butch i'm not putting you down or starting any trouble just trying to make you understand aight dude lata.
P.S. That Chrome Does Have Some Bling When It's Clean Though!!!

How would you like to start your truck in the morning and here from deep in the engine knocking and clattering for at least two minutes? How about when you jump on the pedal and the Trans kicks down and the dam thing can't get out of its own way because it feels like its holding back or misfiring chocking or whatever. How about the Fn dealer saying we can’t find anything in the Fn codes. Mean while I have caravans passing me off the line. YOU BET IM PISSED! SORRY but I can't help it.
I'm really sorry to hear about all your problem's, i kinda have that same thing when i start it in the morning you can hear lifter's rattling but it goes away and i asked a service advisor about that and he said because there's no oil at the lifter's when you first start it, so i dunno i will ask about that again, have you tried any kind of cleaner maybe a injector is clogged, dirty or something then again could be a bad sensor or module, have you wrote to anybody yet about your truck or to complain about your dealer, Hope you get your dakota fixed one way or another lata.
