Yeah the truck needs to break in, 9 is bad, mine was like 12.5 but slowly getting better. I also run 93 gas in mine and as far as I know with the HO you HAVE to, mine is just regular 4.7. With my KN intake, ad gibson exhaust I am getting about 18.3 high way and 12.5 city. My truck has 3500 miles on it.

Ouch! The worst I've done on my '05 is about 12 mpg city. Do a few more fill-ups and drive normal and calculate your mpg after filliing up. If the horrible gas mileage continues, take it in to the dealer and check it out.

I have tried both 89 and 93 gas and didn't really see a difference, a week after I got the truck I went on a trip of about 500 miles and at that point I got 15 mpg but it seems to be getting worse with every tank. question all of you that have an intake system on do you hear like a sucking - hissing sound not when you hit the gas, but almost the second or two after you let off I have worked on cars all my life so I do have knowledge it is strange my 01 w a 4.7 did not do this, the dealer said that it was the IAC motor but Im not sure what do ya think ? wonder if this maybe a contributing factor in my mileage [:@]

I really doubt the Idle air control motor makes a noise, it is only there to adjust the idle of the motor under load of a/c turnig on or alt kicking in. My intake is obiviously louder than the stock and make a hissing sound. Did you un hook the battery when you put the CAI on? Try reseting the computer. When you start it back up after unhooking the battery make sure you have everything off, no A/C, radio, fan nothing and let it run at least 10 minutes at idle so the computer can get all its base settings, maybe that will help you. With you HO it says you must run the 93, nothing less. Try all that and put some miles on it, I still think you have to let it break in more. My last vehicle didnt get decient gas miliage until arounf 14K miles. I am hoping it is the same with the DAK. Also does your intake have a box around it? if it is a pipe with a cone filter on it it may be sucking in too much hot air from around the engine, that WILL kill miliage and performance. Just my thoughts.....

Hey I did not unhook the battery I will try that I will try running 93 as well and see what happens I don't have a box around my air cleaner I did how ever remove the rubber flap from the rad support to get better air flow ,and made sure that the air cleaner was as close to the front as possible guess i will see what happens might try a different dealer

Wow...I only have a little over 1300 miles on mine and it got 17.25 mpg on the last tank. I have the 4.7 with the 6sp., so the manual might help a tiny bit....but it's only been getting better since I got it.

I am averaging about 15mpg with the V8, 4X4 quad cab with a daily commute of mixed highway and city. I just turned over 2300 miles on the odometer.
