How - To - Info 2005 Dakota 4.7l to a 4.7l HO
After doing a search here i have discovered there are several things different from the 4.7l and the 4.7l HO engine but I couldnt find anything or any post that listed all the things that are different.
Is it possible to take my `05 Dakota 4.7l v8 to the dealership and say make it a 4.7l HO?
I figure if i had the dealership do it,.. it'd be factory work done so that they couldnt say someone else screwed something up, they'd have to blame themselves.
If i can't take it there to them to do the work then,...
What are all the differences so i can get all the info in one post?
Thanks.

goto www.allpar.com and look up the 4.7L and 4.7L HO, there are quite a bit of differences between the two internally besides the cams. good luck
Thank you for your help,...
I've been to that 4.7l page before and there are still several other differences even between that page and the new 2005 4.7l HO Dakota's.
For some reason i thought i read the new injectors were 24lbs injectors on the new HO, i could be totally wrong tho,.. it's early still, just woke up.
The new Dakota's both 4.7l versions now have the Cats in with the Y-Pipe making them 1 unit now plus with ours where the 2 pipes go into 1, the pipes are really smashed together and JBA only offers new Y-Pipes for 2003 and below i believe and looks like a sweet looking new Y-Pipe.
I wonder if you can just swap out the injectors for the HO ones without changing anything else,... I wonder if the PCM would re-learn the change,...
I've spoke to the nice guys at KRC Performance a few months ago about swaping out the cams for me and they told me it'd cost about $4500.00 if i wanted them to do it for me since were both located in Florida and I just don't have $4500 right now to spend on cams and the install. Hell i've seen 450HP Crate engines for that much forsale.
I guess my quest continues, thank you for coming by and for your help. /bow

Yea, I'm not doubting there is more differances than what that web-page says.
I'm not on the "up-and-up" on new engines and stuff.
It would just be my thinking that, I would either live with the non-HO, or trade the truck, too much of a cost to convert IMO.

Wow I thought the overhead cam swap would be easy,I know the 2 cams are pricey but 4500 installed.I could pick up a 5.7 out of a wrecked Ram and have $ leftover. You sure that aint a typo.
