How has the ride of your truck changed with more rubber under you? Thinking about getting some 265/70 17. Do you have any tire rub?

 

yeah i realllllly like the way they look, more beef to them.I think I'm going to go off and look for some more beefy tires on mine for when I get a body lift done. I just got running boards so the body lift is next.

 

Thanks for posting those pics. My wife says she likes the steel wheels on my QC and I like they way they look with the Wranglers on them, and I've been trying to convince myself to keep them all along. If I could get them painted or powdercoated black like I want, I wouldn't have a doubt at all about keeping them. As cheap and plain as they are, I like the way they look, I just WANT them black!

 

I like the black rims also, I keep looking at the american racing Tailgunner steel rim in black, When I was in college I worked in a parts store and we always had the cheap steel wagon wheel rim in chrome and white, it would be nice to find it in black somewhere, I have looked but no luck

 

you really didn't put on a size tht is much different than the optional 17" tires from Dodge. This is the size of mine that came with the 17" chrome rims I have

I don't feel like doing the math but a 65 series on a 17" tire I think is going to be real close to a 70 or 75 series on a 16" tire. Width being the same.

265/65-r17 is about an inch and a half smaller in diameter, but because theres an inch gained by the rim being larger, they are still 1 inch smaller on the sidewall compared to the 265/75-r16 on my truck. the truck will ride an inch lower to the ground, and the tire is quite a bit smaller. 1.6" smaller in diameter exactly.

I'm getting all this information from a tire size calculator program. the sidewall on a 265/65-R17 tire and rim package, has the same sidewall size 6.8 inches, but being on a 17" rim, its 1 inch bigger all around. So instead of a 2.5 inch diff with the ppl with 16" rims, then I have a 1.5 inch diff from the ppl with the 17" rim package. Still a pretty good difference.

Oh by the way, make sure nobody wants to put 265/75-r17's on there truck, thats not the same thing, and will most likely rub. This will only work out on the 16" rim.

I don't have any tire rub even on bumpy dirt areas, and the ride has not seemed to change to much. I feel that I can turn and corner with more control, which would make sense because the tires are about an inch wider compared to the stockers.

 

Quick last question

I am going to get a set of 265/75/16 's today at 3:30

I was given the option of getting the P265/75/16 or the LT265/75/16

Any thoughts, they are the same tire.

 

I believe the "P" is for passenger tire and the "LT" designation is a tire designed specifically for a light truck. Other than that I would say the tires have the same overall dimensions.

this is probably too late, but they should not offer the "P" for your truck. bjktimp is right, the "LT" is for your truck. If tow or put the full load in your bed the "P" tires will not handle the load. My Dad was going to take my tires and couldn't since his are "E" load rated, same difference for you.
