31" or 32" tires on stock 06 SL
The stock tires and wheels are: 245/70-r16x7. I have about 34" of wheel well space from end to end. I want to throw on 31" on the stock wheels. Are they much larger? I want to go for the maximum size tire I can get, without turning rub. My dodge dealer can recalabrate the speedometer for $49, and fully supports oversizing. Any help would be great. I am at stock ride height, and never plan to lift.

Ok since no one knew anything about this I went ahead and did what I had to do. I got 265-75-r16's, with an aggresive tread. This is roughly 2.5 inches larger in diameter from the stock tire, and half of that on the side wall. The tires look much bigger, they are. The truck was lifted, and gained 1.25 inches ground clearance from the bigger tire. In no way do the tires look to big, or fill the wheel well to much. All the new dakotas shoulda came with this size tire. The stock ones are just a wee bit to small.

wow awesome! Did you use the stock rims!? If so I might want to look into doing that because I actually like the look of my stock rims :/. People tell me I should get new rims, but, the ones I like aren't even available for the Dakota and I like the style of my stocks.

I thought the first number is the width and the second number is the ratio of the sidewall height. If that is correct, then they are both the same width, but the 75's are a little taller. I am looking at the Yokohama AT+II. I have heard some good things about these tires. Much better than the BF Goodwrench's, and cheaper. Going with the 265/75 16

Here are two more pics of the new tires just so you guys can get a feel for them. They should of came from factory like this.
I got 1.25" of true lift off the ground, Plus, as you can see the tires come right to the fender end and really accent the larger size of the mid-size truck. The tires are 2.5 inches larger in diameter.
