Default Exxon Valdez II in Oklahoma!

Did my first oil change on the Dak on Saturday. I remembered seeing the post about the Oil Pan being right over the crossmember and all, so I figured I would make an 'inverted ramp' of sorts with some coated cardboard I had laying around the garage.

Well, everything went well with my cardboard trick... for the most part.. zero spillage. Then came the realization that i didn't take the caps out of the holes in my oil catching thingy. I had about 20 seconds to react.... so I stuck my hand in there.. and tried to turn and turn and turn... NO DICE [:'(]

So, it spills all over the place, ruins my shirt, my jeans (goodthing I was wearing cheap rubber flip flops) and lots of random junk in the Garage, then the flow turns toward the driveway and just makes a nice little river all the way down.

So, I decide to clean it up after I finish, so I get the filter off (great location on that, BTW) and since my hands were so 'oily' I drop it and it clonks me on the forehead[:@]DOH!

Once I was done... it took an hour to clean up my oil spill. (including 10 minute lecture from popo telling me I was polluting the water supply)

Great experience, can't wait for the next! I use the Mobil 7500 mile oil.. so I go about 12,000 -15,000 between oil changes. 3K or 3 Months my ****, that's corporate politics.[]

I put one of those Fram oil quick change thangmajigs on mine for that very reason. It replaces the drain plug with a valve that opens when you twist the hose into it.Its nothing quick about it but it's alot less messy.I bought it at Auto Zone for around $30.I've had it for around 10k on there no leakage and comes with a brass cap that screews over the valve to keep it clean.

Actually its the other way around. The corperate peeps are going to tell you go 7,8,9 or 10k.
Its the people in the real world that push for the 3k LOF.
I certainly wouldnt go much beyond that.

The web site seems to say we need the F-101 drain plug but in a previous post, somebody said they used an F-106. Which one is the correct one for the 4.7 ?
