No removing the fan want change the belt configuration, most say you might pick up around 10hp plus supposedly the engine spools up a little quicker.Check above the section for the service manual for the Dakota on how to remove the fan,I am in no way suggesting that everybody needs to remove their clutch fan and go this route,I was just answering a question and it just a little project I'm going to do.If you look at the links for Flex-a-Lite the models # ending in 5 are for Mustangs the # ending in 0 are universal fit.

Adding a different fan doesn't GIVE you horsepower, it frees up the horsepower that is drawn from the engine, for having to turn that silly little fan. It takes power to move those clutch fans, and the electric ones, it just takes battery power. Follow me?

Good point French as I posted on the latest MPG thread,I talked about the difference in my mpg in summer and winter my thought is the AC doesn't cycle as much and my fan clutch engages more often dragging down my mpg, that's the reason I'm going to try the electric fan,IF it frees up some hp and helps mpg great, there's plenty of stuff about electric fans on this and other forums, running some searches may help some people get a better ideal about their options, install, pros and cons.

changing to an electric fan will free up some horsepower. That being said, you don't want to go overboard with a big electric fan either. The power for it is the alternator which the engine is running as well with a belt and pulley. You want to make sure you just get an electric fan big enough for the cooling you require and not bigger.
