Yeah, i got an escort passport 8500, and love it so far. Should be a lot better when its hardwired. How is yours mounted above the rear view? Suction cups?

Clipped to the headliner.

mine is remote mount in the dash.use a test light in your fuse panel to find a key on hot terminal and plug in power to that terminal.then run a separate ground to the frame and your in business.

You can tie into the cig lighter (adapter) behind the dash. Most any electronic store will sell an adaptor. Trick is getting the dash off and back together, takes time and remember where all the screws go...just hardwired (to the lighterwire behind the dash) an XM in wife's car. Looks and works great, but was a bit more work that I thought it would be.

Yeah thats what I ended up doing. My hardwire kit for my radar detector had a clip that made it VERY easy to tie into that wire. It looks great too. I just need to figure out a better solution to keep the detector mounted above the mirror. I hate that dotted sun shade stuff that is on the windshield up there.
