LED Tailgate bar..
Has anyone purchased one of these, or ever had experience with them on any truck at all? I want to get one. For those of you who dont know what it is its a light strip that goes across the bottom of the tailgate. When you brake or signal it lights up accordingly. How do you wire it? Do we have the wiring somewhere near the bumper by any chance?
I've seen them on some trucks at nite I thought they looked ok,,,,,,,,http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/S...searchbtn.y=11,,,,,,,,here's more expensive one,,,,,,http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/S...searchbtn.y=21
I thought about getting some,I thought they looked good,it was a couple of years ago on a new Silverado, being I consider them more of a stylin statement than for safety everybody has their own taste and I doubt if everyone waiting for my thumbs up,but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last nite.
I just want to know if my truck, an 06 dodge dakota 4x2, without the tow package, has the 4-pin hitch wiring somewhere by the rear bumper, so I can hook this thing up. Does anyone know?
the line of fire lights are easily installed by the trailer plug or a direct tap into the wiring harness. you can mount the bar with the supplied hardware also get some 3m tape and put it on the back of bar for a sure fit and hold while installing lights.

Without the tow package, you will need to splice into the existing light connectors. You can get a adaptor for the lights so you don't need to splice into them at any trailer place. I have mine setup in the 4 plug that came with the truck's towing package.

being LEDs also you may need to get an LED flasher fuse or load resistors for it (ask a seller also prior to buying if there are any other parts needed since the lights are LEDs). I had to do that for all LED bulbs I replaced for my trun signals and tail lights, those are easy to install and won't effect the opperation of the rest of the lights, but allow the LED tail light bar to operate correctly.I've heard they're nice, and I've seen them on a few trucks before, they are pretty neat and bold looking
EDIT: Also sometimes based on the model it depends on if you need to splice into the tail light wires or hitch wires. Some have a nifty feature where it doubles as a turn signal, so if you turn on your right signal, the right half of the light bar will blink with it. But if you just want a stop light i think those are offered as well which can go onto the hitch receiver.

you should look at www.stylinconcepts.com ......thats where i got everything for my dodge ram and it was really sharp....i almost got one but ended up gettin somethin else and never came back to it by the time i got a new truck...its sharp though, only if done right...it can either look real nice and clean or tacky. it depends where exactly you mount it. do not mount it on the actual tailgate, ive seen a few on there and it looks like ****. it should be right about the same height as your bumber, under your tailgate with enough room for you tailgate to open w/out hittin it. and in this case its usually "you get what you pay for" if u buy a cheap one, the lights may look cheap or bulky...be very selective on which unit you buy

If they cost $19.95 would you put them on your truck?
