RE: Upgrade from 3.55 to a 3.92 rear end
The largest upgrade is to 4.56. I have not done the upgrade from 3.55 to 3.92, but am about to do an upgrade to 4.10 in about a month with LSD as well. I have read, and been told that you will see little gain going just one step up in gears, that's why I am going with the 4.10's. Also, I don't know how you are going about you upgrade i.e. one stop shopping for parts and install, or buying the parts, then finding a reputable place to do the install. I have found that it is cheaper to do the latter, I have found Motive Gears and install kit for $230 online and will have them installed (including LSD) for $250.

Yea, that's what I heard. That you won't notice any difference going up from 3.55 to the 3.92.
Question is... What kind of gas MPG are we talking about with the 4:10 upgade? what other plus or minus would there be with the upgrade.
Like you, I'm going to get the parts and have a reputable installer do the work.

Hey there safari rick. I'm thinking you should do the math, & see how many more rpm's you'll turn, both with 392 & 410. I really do think you'll notice the difference between 355 & 392. I have 392's in my truck & it feels a lot quicker than the truck I test drove with 355's in it. Ya I know I have the ho motor too but I'm thinking gears make a bigger difference than 30hp
Not to change the subject but I noticed you have a gibson exhaust. How do you like it? I just ordered the 3"catback, should be here any day

you're only going to increase your rpm's around 200, at 60 mph. In city stop and go traffic, you should see an improvement in gas mileage. On the highway you will see a negligible decrease. I love my exhaust, I have a sound clip floting around here somewhere if your interested. Also, you should check the torque numbers on the HO as opposed to the 4.7, the HO would feel more of a benefit of 3.92's because it is already putting more power to the ground, gears just help send that power to the ground.
