BATTERY DRAIN!
Sorry for the CAPS, but this problem is SCREAMING in my mind.
I just joined this forum, and after reading the thread re: stall problems, I must relate my experience withmy Dodge dealership code-reader-mechanics.
After 20-30 unstarted hours, my '05 DAK Quad 4.7 (non Infinity/nonHO)transforms from a truck that I love to a useless doorstop.
I bought the truck Memorial Day '05. Immediately, I replaced the POS factory sound system & speakers and added a K/N drop in air filter. That was all I did.
Summer turned to fall... then, in January (New Jerseyclimate) my truck wouldn't start if left alone for over 20 hours.
Initially, I blamed the batttery in conjunction with the cold weather.
To the dealer I went. Battery was replaced... problem persisted.
Back to the dealer I went... computer module replaced... no relief.
Back to the dealer I went... CLUSTER module replaced... no relief.
Understand... if truck is started once a day, rather than every day and a half, all seems well.
Truck sits for 20+ hours unstarted and it's DEAD.
Bring back to dealer to troubleshoot for the 4th time (take a loaner Neon...whoopee).
Dealer doesn't have a code or a clue to the problem... they decide aftermarket Blaupunkt is at fault for the battery drain.
How could this be?
Nevermind, my original head unit never sold for the $80 I had it listed on eBay (with speakers). Sorry for the attempted price gouge.
I removed the Blaupunkt Casablanca (perfect match for the truck, btw), and reinstalled the factory POS.
Problem solved?
Only if I don't start the truck for 20+ hours.
The battery drain is becoming a brain drain.
Got to schedule another DAK for Neon after the new year... I'm leaning towards lemon law replacement at this point.
Here in NJ it's dependent on 3 dealer trips for the same unresolved problem within 3 years... I qualify.
I'd love tohave the problem FIXEDinstead.
Should I take it to another dealer?
I expect the stalls (from the other thread posts) to surface any day.
HAPPY NEW YEAR... thanks for reading.

Ya another dealer sounds like a good idea..
Read my Warranty Questions thread that is stickied at the top, print out the Magnusson Moss Warranty Act, and tell them to shove it. Your Blau, has nothing to do with the issue, unless it didnt turn off, which aparantly did. So they are, for one, retarded.. and maybe another dealer can hook ya up. ;-)
Good luck

the next time you let truck sit. dont lock the doors and set factory alarm with the key pad, just lock doors and let sit. your factory alarm could be draining the battery. my buddy has a corvette that the alarm is wired into the control system and if he does not leave it on a trickle charge it will drain the battery. also did you have this problem before the blau was installed? the install shop might have croosed some wires to always give it power, and when they reinstalled the factory one they never corrected their mistake.
Make sure you un hook all your amps if you have them and try for a few days. I go round and round with people all day about drains in their cars due to amps draining the battery. I do not know why you are calling the stock stereo a POS. I think it sounds great for stock, after all it is a truck, mine is clear and chrisp. Also why would the stalls start? I hate when people get a problem and all of a sudden think they all will come. Remove all you stereo crap and try that and anything else you may have wiried in. Oh make them put a new alt. in as I have seen they cause a drain. Best of luck..
Try another dealer, or go to any mechanic that has a battery tester and have them hook the vehicle up in front of you, you can look at the tester and see for youself if there is a drain if they will let you in the shop. I just got back from my Honeymoon and the truck sat for 10 days straight and started up the first turn. I have never had ant problems battery wise in my Dakotas, and I have owned all three generations. Good luck to you.......
Thanks for all the fast replies, folks.
One of the dealer mechanics pointed out thecircuit that has the battery drain.
There is ablack popup fusein the fusebox that controls the alarm/doorlocks and more. (pop it up to bypass the circuit and problem disappears...so does alarm, etc.)
He is the one that claimed the cluster module was at fault, so I would surmise that the cluster module is on this circuit, too.
This part was on national backorder for 6 weeks during the summer. When it finally arrived at the dealership, the mechanic no longer worked there.
The new cluster module was installed by the same guy who had replaced the computer. Success?... not a chance.
Back it went. After 3 days with a loaner Neon, the finalconsensus was that my aftermarket radio was the culprit.
I asked him if he put a meter on the problem circuit to confirm his diagnosis... he assured me he did.
I drove my Dakhome (with the dash still apart) and reinstalled my original radio/cd.
Next time the truck sat for a day and a half... dead as a doornail.
I only have 16k on this truckwhich I bought in6/05... another dealer seems like the way to go before I pursue the lemon law alternative.
As to the stalls... had it happen several times (once when I hit a pothole... other times at idle/ in drive).
Thanks again for any input... Happy New Year all.
Edit: no amps or subwoofer installed. I will have dealer #2 check the alternator first.
