Default Performance Chip Opinions

Hey guys, I've never put a performance chip on my vehicle before, but today I was driving up the road and I was like...grrr I want some more power. Also my truck seems to shift gears too quick, and doens't like downshifting to lower gears to give me better power. So I was wondering what those performance chips do for the engine, and if it's worth it to buy one. I've never even entertained the thought of buying one so I've done no research, what do you recommend and what improvements has it made to the performance?

They are good, but dude, seriously. Wait for Superchips or Hyperpac. DEFINITLY worth it. More power gains than those Jet chips, and much more user friendly, and you can program them to EXACTLY what you want.

I have the stage 2 jet chip and there is a noticeable performance boost(not much) but i agree with frenchy, wait for the superchip or the hyperpac, much more customizable. and when i say noticeable i mean, that you will be able to see the difference, you wont flyback into you seat, but there is definately moreumph off the line and as you accelarate.sorry, i know, not that helpful.

adding more power is always good the jet chip is good but if you want something more user adaptable i would wait for programmers as frenchy had said. thats what i'm doing. my brother has a stage 2 jet chip on his 2001 jeep cherokee and i gotta say they sure do make a good difference and are perfect if u want something u put on and leave alone.

sweet..thanks guys..i'll wait for the superchips...how much do these things run by the way?

I've seen some that are managed by a PalmPilot...lol...if I can get one of those with just the software I can use my phone to tune the truck instead of having to buy the palm pilot with it...

Superchips programmers are usually around 4 - 500 dollars.

Well worth it IMO.

dont hold your breath for a hyper or superchips, i have still been leaving emails with both and the market for our trucks just arent there they said. still would rather do programmers for a deisel or hemi. spend the 1200.00 and get the cam kit if you want power. 750.00 for the cams and 400.00 for the install.
