The oil change from Hell...
My first oil change on the dak went great....I love the lil funel below the filter...My second one however i striped the drain plug and had to take it off with chanel locks..Went to napa and they gave me one for a neon...Luckily my buddy had a brand new plug that fit perfectly!!!The bolt was so striped, it took me about 2 hours total for my second oil change~~!!!
Well so I guess I wasnt the only one that had trouble lol. What I also didnt like is how skinny they made the oil filter; you have to getr like the absolute smallest wrench and then you have to turn it so much that it takes up all your room; I know most chryslers use the fram PH16. I like this one because it is short and chubby lol easy to get off. I do agree that I like the k&n oil filter with the wrenching point but they only have a 90% efficiency rating and fram has 96%, and k&n is alot more expensive. I am not worried though because from my experience the first one is the hardest because of how tight they have the factorys on, after that they usually come off alot easier, especilly the fram sure grip. And the drain plug wasnt that big of a deal to me, but I would think that they would make it a little different so it dosnt interfere like that, o well. Just minor details in an awesome truck. Long live dakota!!

I dont know about you guys... but I made my dealer switch it to full synthetic before I got it delivered. I had them do it again at 600 miles... they checked it and the filter for debrisso I knew if anything was causing problems. so far so good. but yeah I think a break-in sticky would be good.
You guys think we have it bad on the Dodge trucks??[sm=signs006.gif]
Feast your eyes upon the 3.6 caddy engines in the GM cars. Trail Blazers/Envoys make a big nasty mess too.The Hummer H2 was bad, the H3 was even worse (probably the worst I've seen). After doing a couple of these, you'll love servicing your Dakota!

I changed the oil in a colorado with the 3.5 I5 and it had a catch thing on the crossmember that ran the oil over it and funneled it into the oil drain pan.
