Default Front Brake squeeling

One or both of my front disk brakes are squeeling. I have an 05 Dakota Quad Cab if it matters with drums on the back. They only squeeling when im stopping and applying the brakes. Usually doesn't matter how much pressure I put on the pedal. It will squeel with light and heavy pressure. Should I need new pad or something? Got 20 000kms on the truck. That would be about 13000 miles. Thanks

My 06 has the same problem. I think it is brake dust. Try slamming on the brakes hard a couple of times and see if the squeal goes away. That worked for me.[:-]

Pull them apart and clean and inspect them. I'm sure they just need to be cleaned off a little though.

Pull them apart and remove the rusted edges off the rotor. That is what usually causes squeal. It is also possible the pads are glazed from being over heated. You could sand off the glaze coating while you have them apart. But if the pads aren't worn and everything is in order the squeal will not hurt anything.

sounds like a wear and tear, let your local garage check the entire system and ask for a tube of copper grease. It is basically applied to brake pads to avoid annoying squeaks. Although it could need a new dodge brake pads, you can also apply copper grease when replacing the pads.

Where did you get the ceramic brake pads ? Have you noticed any improvement in braking with them ?

Yeah could be wear and tear but... thats not alot of mileage...and I don't think you would need to replace ur brake pads yet... I'm at 16,000 miles and I still have the orginals..
