If GM were to merge with Mitsu it'd be merging with DCX since DCX owns mitsubishi...if that what you meant? or just an example?

GAWD I hope not. DCX has set alot of standards. One night on the news, they showed that Ford and GM had dropped dramatically in sales, where DCX was up a bit more than either one of them put together... and they showed that Ford and GM combined are going to lay off a combined 98,000 employees, where DCX are only laying off 13,000.

Logically, I don't see how they figure DCX is in a whole lot of trouble to need GM to merge with them. I'd rather have GM do it over Ford anyday.

same here, if Ford bought DCX I'd have a heart attack, that's like...unmentionable. But GM is in a lot of problems themselves, I don't think it will come through due to the problems GM has...

I said it an almost a year ago that don't be surprised to see Daimler sell off DCX. It was so in the cards obvious that it was a bad fit. DCX will never be able to survive as it's own entity so I would not be surprised again to see another foreign investor take the reins like Fiat. They own Nissan now and could be making a bid for Chrysler since it lost the bit to buy GM in 06. Again, do not be surprised! It's a dam shame it had come to this for DCX but the world market has sapped the hell out of US companies of their once dominances and much of the reason is we Americans buy soooooo much foreign product from vehicles to kitchen appliances and it catching up and killing us from within. All US auto companies use foreign assemble plants and use foreign materials. The good old Hemi is assembled in Mexico only! Truck beds built in Mexico and sent to Michigan for assembly. Countless American vehicles are built in Canada. Over 80% of the electronics are infused with foreign components. So enjoy the product you salute today because it will most certainly be gone tomorrow.

I have to agree with you to a point. We are buying way too much foreign crap. What was that free trade crap Clinton brought in.... NAFTA? I know it was happening before that, but he made it a lot easier for US based companies to go to other countries and build factories. There isn't a single Nike factory in the U.S. It's either in China, Taiwan, Thailand, or some other Asian country. Now it's almost impossible to buy anything that's made in the USA.

Part of us buying foreign cars and such, is because back in the 70's and 80's, the three major car companies didn't have any competition on vehicles. So of course, our cars were crap. When Honda, Toyota, and Nissan came to the USA, they provided much more reliable cars and trucks that were also easier on gas. When we started buying their vehicles, the big three started changing their tune.
