Launching in 4 hi, then dropping out of it in the middle of a drag spells disaster to me. Let's see how long that front transfer case holds up with that kind of abuse.

I remember now. Fan was .3 Gears were .2
I was looking at flex lite's website and saw that they install is pretty simple, but did you take out the mechanical fan when you installed yours? How hard was that? In the process, did you have to put in a new belt to make it match the pulleys?

It's not like these 4.7's are putting out 500+ ft/lbs of torque. We're basically spreading the power to 4 wheels, its actually a stronger setup than the AWD guys, we don't have tons of clutches to burn up.

This truck has 30,000 miles and its showed no sign of problems launching in 4 HI. It's a solid chain and two gears, and it shift-on-the-fly. If the computer thought it was bad to switch in/out of 4 HI with the pedal to the floor, it would override your command when you flip the switch.

Well, its hard to explain, I guess you guys would need to know how the internals of a transfer case work. If you don't think its safe, don't do it. My 50+ 1/4 passes and 150+ races is all the proof I can provide.

On to the T.B.

We had a freak Ice/snow storm today and we had an emergency meeting at work, so between the two I figured tomorrow would be a much better day. I'll provide the outcome of the T.B. tomorrow night.

Electric fan-> I got this and the kit from a summit magazine. Just got a universal setup, fabricated some mounting brackets, and wired it to a relay. I stuck a temp sensor in that threaded hole above our thermostate, and boom a fully functional electric fan. I also installed a cut-off switch under the dash for 1/4 mile passes, I don't want that fan to kick on. The alternator handles the load fine. I'll let you know how it handles it after I install my custom aluminum underdrive pulley. These will be available for sale this summer.

Yes, you take out the mechanical fan, this is where you pick up the power.
A big wrench and hammer to knock it loose and it spins off. You leave the pulley alone because that's still your water pump. Hence, no different belt is needed. In fact, you don't even need to remove the belt to remove the fan.

I could probably throw something together. Would have been easier when I was actually putting it together.
