I used to live in Calgary back in the day when it used to be .50/litre. That was about 2.00 a US gallon and that was back in the 80's. Here, it's always been much cheaper for gas. Ten years ago it used to be 1.10 to 1.40, and it didn't go up until after Clinton left office. I don't understand why Canadian gas is so expensive when Alberta has all of the Tar Sands that they've been expanding off of for 30 years.

My bitch is this: They never used to raise the price of gas this much when there was a cap on the profits of the oil companies. When Clinton was in office, he lifted that cap and the oil companies are loving every bit of it when they turn a profit over of around $32+ billion per quarter.

I just paid $2.85 for super, 12.5 miles to the gallon in the Black SRT-10. I'm not complaining at all, I happen to have a lot of fun in my trucks.

I have an economy truck too....its the white one which tops out at 14mpg.
You can apparently afford the gas for the SRT10. If you can afford it, you can afford the gas.

We pay more for gas than the americans mostly due to taxes. I think taxes in Canada are about 35% of the price versus 20% in the states. Here is an interesting link showing the average US price vs the average CDN price You will see they practically mirror each other except we are always higher by a similar amount. http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_retail_price_chart.aspx?time=24

Something of very interesting note however is this.......about a dozen states currently have gasoline price caps on bills coming thru their state right now. Most are looking to duplicate what Hawaii and a few other states have done, which is basically prevent any kind of gas price hike. Basically, it states that the price of gas cant exceed the national average, which keeps prices regulated. It also prevents any kind of real price increase over a short period of time as well.

Also, read the papers/watch the news. The government itself is under critical pressure to do something about the insane gas profits oil companies are reaping. Dont be surprised if you see in the next year or so that they get nailed something fierce in court....

They said the reason behind the raising of the price is because of the lack of production and the high demand. They stopped production for maintance and for the "big" switch over for the new gas. The funny part is the prices here just finally dropped to what everyone else in the country a month ago, and now it's going up again. I was enjoying the price of gas running at 2.30 for regular.
yeah isn't that funny, it seems as if they're ALWAYS switching to the new gas as soon as it starts to drop...it's like the CEO is sitting in the office, then all of a sudden he comes bursting out "MY CASH OUT THIS YEAR WILL BE LESS THAN $700 MILLION! TIME TO SWITCH TO THE NEW GAS!"

Yeah... I just wish you could get a flexfeul truck and get the same kinda of performance with E83...that and E83 was cheaper...and as far as the pressure from the government... I heard Bush saying (and don't get me wrong I am a Bush Supporter) something about how ethanol is becoming more competitive as the gas prices rise...basically saying well we want to suppport ethanol and when its finally cheaper than gas then we'll all turn to ethanol.... only problem is eventually if things keep up it will be cheaper than gas...but still more than we're paying now...atleast until the ethanol industry booms when we all are forced to turn to it for feul.

Last night on the news, they explained why the northwest is so much more expensive than the rest of the country.

Since we're on this side of the Rockies, we have to rely on the Alaska pipeline for our oil. We can't get it transported over the Rockies and we can't get it from the Panama canal.... yeah, right.
