Funny story... I was driving to detroit the other day... and every time I hit a bump on the express way I would hear a little rattle... If anyone has drivven on MI freeways, you know there is a bump every 20-30 feet after the winter. So I am going nuts by the time I get to D-town. I start looking for the stupid rattle that developed... I looke every place I can think of. I ended up finding a penny, that had slipped out of teh cupholder area and got up behind it somehow... ( I am still wondering how it is possible with the laws of physics being as they are)it was resting up againt the plastic and every bump made it tp out, then back into the plastic... I wanted to kill somebody on the way down there...
Ummm, you so just shot my hopes and dreams down of hearing a funny story!! You started of saying "Funny story" so I ran and got me some popcorn. I sat down and was ready to hear a great story and you told me about the little penny that drove you nuts. What is this world coming to? lol!!
Oh its funny being a Michigander myself and especially living around the same area (I think) I can just picture him....hahaha...it was funny to mee
Ok, I finally broke down and took my truck into the dealer under warranty on Tuesday (5/8). In addition to the vibration, it started squeaking under the dash. I took lots of pieces off the dash and it was not something dash/trim related, so I gave up and took it to the dealer.
It ended up being the SAME thing causing both noises. There are two brackets on the front of the intake manifold that hold the heater hoses. The one on the left side of my truck was loose, causing the metal heater hoses to vibrate against the air intake tube to the throttle body. At the same time, the throttle cable runs close to the heater hoses near the firewall and when the hoses were shifting they were moving the throttle cable around. Both noises sounded like they were definitely interior noises but turned out to be underhood noises. The brackets on the heater hoses have an oblong hole in them so they are adjustable.
Hope this helps.
